Rock Springs began as an agricultural center that grew crops such as corn, beans, wheat and other grains until it became an important transportation stop for travelers travelling through Sheridan County during the late 1800s and early 1900s. The railroads helped bring commerce to Rock Springs and made it an important hub for trade throughout much of western Wyoming Territory during this time period
