Laramie, Wyoming is a small town located in the Arapaho and Adams County areas of western Colorado. The population was 3,155 at the 2010 census. At one time, Laramie was the site of two major optical industries: Laramie Optics and SAE International. The first significant optical industry in Laramie was founded by three men who were working for Captain George Armstrong in 1876: Hiram Maxim, Willis Halsey, and Majestic Optical Works. With the arrival of photography as a popular hobby, these companies closed their doors within a few years. By 1907 however, there were still vestiges of optical industry left in Laramie with some businesses still operating until 1973 when they closed due to lack of customers or competition from electronic equipment producers. In 1898 Union Glass & Camera Company moved from Cheyenne to start making lenses for photographic equipment but soon discontinued operations because it could not compete with new technologies developed by Kodak. In 1899 German immigrant Wilhelm Sell createdJennerens lens company which became known as Sell-A-Glass Corporation after its founder married Jennerens daughter. After World War I Sell-A-Glass resumed activities producing lenses for military use but this company too ceased production because of technological advances made by Kodak during World War II which rendered such products unusable without modification or replacement on short notice. The opening of the United States Military Academy in West Virginia led to an increase in demand for opticians and consequently new businesses began to spring up all over Laramie specifically catering to military personnel being stationed there including American Optical Supply Co., Pearce Opticals Inc., Keystone Camera & Viewing Co., Girdersmith Camera Corp., etc. With so many businesses open there never seemed to be enough space for everyone so most factories relocated either to bigger towns like Denver or Johnstown PA where production could take place closer to consumers rather than having an entire town devoted solely to optics manufacturing; an important trend that continued until well into the 21st century when smaller towns throughout America are experiencing similar struggles with limited job opportunities and dwindling resources necessary for continuing major optical manufacturers like Bellingham WA (home since 1903 of StevensOptical), Bison Imaging (formerly USI Optronics) and others that have been struggling recently alongside larger metropolitan areas like Detroit MI (home since 1919 of Corning Glassworks) while other smaller communities continue seeing their locally based optician establishments flourish despite high cost prices typical within regionaloptician markets statewide .

In 1907, two companies formed to build a transcontinental Railroad through Laramie: Union Pacific Railroad Company and Northern Securities Corporation. The railroad was built but never completed as it was replaced by Interstate 80. Laramie has been home to several notable events throughout its history such as being the birthplace of Ulysses S. Grant on July 6th 1876; when President Harry Truman keynoteolded at an event celebrating World War II's Victory Day on April 6th 1945; when singer Jerry Lee Lewis came into town for a day on October 15th 1951; and most recently when NATO commanders participated in Exercise Saber Strike 10 along with local police officers from around the area on May 8th 2013
