The first businesses in GreenRiver were a general store and post office dates back to 1872. By 1907, there were nine churches in town along with four schools; two boarding schools and two day schools. From 1917-1918, during World War I, local residents produced milk for troops on location at Fort Bridger in Nebraska. When production stopped after the war, muchofthe milk was exported to Europe but some still remained locally distributed until 1984 when it was discontinued due to high prices caused by imports.. Today there are several small businesses operating in town including restaurants (including Chinook Grill), gasoline stations/convenience stores/betty's gas station/a home health service business called Life Care Home Services Inc., dental clinics (including United Dental Associates), beauty parlors (including Pure Beauty Salon), two hair salons - One operated by a woman named Helen Hunt Jackson who opened up shop after her husband died suddenly while she was away on vacation - one run by her niece Becky Jackson - as well as an ice cream shop which has been open since 1978 called Scoops!

Green River is a town in Sheridan County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Green River was founded in 1868 as a cattle camp on the Green River by settlers led by Captain John S. Butler. The first post office was established in 1870 and the town was platted in 1872. The name of the town comes from the color green, which is mentioned for the first time in 1840 when it was part of Cheyenne County. The townsite that now makes up Green River consisted of several small parcels of land that were bought by residents of Sheridan and Laramie counties who planned to establish a cattle drive through their area. When they failed to do so, they sold their land back to the original investors who then organized a company to build a road from Fort Bridger downriver to Dodge City and thence eastward to Kearney where it would connect with other trails leading out into Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). The town began as a simple ranching community with about 30 people living mainly on two-story adobe buildings built around an open squaremile (half acre) known as "the Gulch." In 1886, when Wyoming became a state, Green River became one of its first communities and continued growing until becoming an incorporated city in 1912 following approval from both local officials and the state government. At its peak during World War I, Green River had over 1,000 citizens and employed 150 workers; however, after the war ended there were no major changes until 1930 when zipper manufacturing began operations downtown which quickly induced growth once again culminating in incorporation as an incorporated city once again only three years later Today there are just under 100 residents living within walking distance of most businesses while much lower levels exist outside those boundaries due mainly to agricultural production or tourism opportunities which have become more prominent since 2000s oil discoveries near Black Hills National Forest
