One of the first sights in Green River was a set of adjustable iron sights called "Buckleys" that were used by both riflemen and shotgunners. The buckley sight was designed to help shooters aim their guns at targets more accurately. In 1876, a man named Johnnie Barnes developed a new sight system called "Barnes & Brown." This system consisted of two adjustable iron sights called "Visions" that were mounted on two different barrels. The vision sighting system helped shooters aim their guns at target from any angle without having to move their hands around like with other types of sights. The Barnes & Brown sight system quickly gained popularity among riflemen and shotgunsner alike, and it soon became standard equipment for many ranges throughout Sheridan County. In 1916, an addition to the range was built that featured four Barnes & BrownVision Sight Systems mounted on four different barrel mounts. These new barrels could accommodate any type of ammunition (shotguns only) so Shooters couldshoot at whatever distance they wanted without having to worry about missfires or inaccuracy. Today, there are still many people who use the Barnes & Brown systems as standard equipment for shooting ranges across Sheridan County!

Green River is a city in Sheridan County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Sheridan County and part of the Great Plains region. The town was founded by fur trader John Custer in 1868 as Green River Station on the Green River. The first post office opened in Green River on December 17, 1865. In 1876, it became the capital of Wyoming Territory; it moved to Laramie in 1909. The city annexed portions of Carbon County in 1907 and 1912. Green River developed around two railroad depots: one east of town and one west of it. The Union Pacific Railroad built a line from Medicine Bow to Casper through Green River in 1875, and soon after another line connected with it northward to Cheyenne via Marshal Junction. A third railroad connection was made southwest from town to Drumright Springs between 1901 and 1902; this latter line served as an alternate route for stage coaches running between Casper and Laramie when the Laramie-Chicago Railway was built through that area during that period. In 1907, Green River annexes Carbon County (then known as Carbon Township). That same year saw the opening of Keystone Dam on the Missouri Valley Rivers Project; uranium mining began there shortly thereafter which led to spillage into nearby townships which caused environmental damage that has still not been fully repaired or cleaned up over 100 years later! In 1912, when territorial boundaries were reorganized within Wyoming following World War I, GreenRiver became part of Johnson County (later Fremont County). Johnson County had a population density exceeding 200 people per square mile; however their size prevented them from developing economically until after Forest Service land acquisition began converting much of their rural countryside into rough grazing country for livestock production during World War II/1946-1948 wildfires burning across much of Northern Colorado & Western Kansas
The Green River flowed through Wyoming from the north to south. The river was formed by two major mountain ranges, the Rocky Mountains and the Snake River Range. The lower reaches of the river were filled with clay and sand, while its higher ends had small rapids and gentle currents.
