Bipedalism is the ability of an animal to move on two legs. The first bipedal animals may have evolved in the early earth during the late Paleocene/early Eocene epoch, some 67 million years ago. These earliest creatures were able to walk on two legs with a four-limbed stance and had a shoulder blade that was positioned relatively high foramina (holes) through which their spinal cord could pass. This posture gave these ancestors the capability to exploit resources and create social hierarchies. As humans developed, they lost this capability to walk and instead relied upon dogs, cats, horses, cows, elephants and other mammals as mounts. The first human beings likely walked upright when they began living in Africa about 120,000 years ago. After walking upright for some time they probably started using sticks as walking sticks which would help them keep their balance while moving around cliffs or other tall objects. By 60 000 BC humans were present in Asia and Europe where they began using tools such as spears and swords to hunt wild animals. Eventually man became so powerful that he started conquering neighboring cultures and he began using his tools to build settlements which led to the development of civilizations such as Greece, Rome, China and America.

There is no definitive answer to this question as the history of bipods (or tripodlike devices) in Green River, Wyoming is both complex and varied. Some historians believe that bipods may have originated in the area as early as 5,000 BC, while others claim they first began to be used in warfare around 1000 AD. Bipedalism is a type of locomotion in which an animal walks on two legs. The first bipedal creatures, such as the dinosaurs and our own human ancestors, probably walked upright like modern humans. However, this type of locomotion was not limited to walking but also took advantage of the assets of each leg- Support from a partner/ankle to move forward. In fact, some animals use their hind legs exclusively for this purpose! After evolving from quadrupedal ancestors, humans became the only major species on Earth that relied entirely on bipedalism for movement. The benefits of bipedalism were many- it allowed humans to reach new heights and depths; It allowed us to survive in difficult environments; It allowed us to build societies; And most importantly, it gave us the ability to communicate with one another. over time, different groups of humans have adapted to different aspects of life using either or both feet- Aided by technology we have now reached levels where many people are able to live independently and support themselves through work and other activities.
