The Green River Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc. was chartered in 1934 as the first rifle and pistol club in Green River County, Wyoming. The purpose of the club was to promote hunting, shooting, fishing, and other outdoor activities within the boundaries of the county. Today’s members are descendants of those who first joined the club in 1934. In 1935, a group of local businessmen formed an organization known as the Yellowstone National Park Committee to help manage and protect park resources within Green River County. This committee was responsible for developing regulations governing firearms ownership within park boundaries. In 1937, the commission passed a resolution authorizing handgun registration with state authorities in order to prevent crime at national parks. Gunownership within park boundaries continued to be regulated through this process until 1955 when state jurisdiction over firearms ended. From its inception until today, member activity at the Green River Rifle and Pistol Club has been focused on shooting sports and target shooting events both inside and outside of our community center/range facility located on Urine Creek Road in central Green River County. Our facilities have always been open to all shooters regardless of skill levels or experience; we simply ask that you respect our property by refrain from discharging your firearm upon it while we are open for business!

The Green River Arsenal was a United States armory located in Green River, Wyoming. It was established in 1873 and served as the main arsenal for the Union army during the American Civil War. The Arsenal produced ordnance for both sides of the conflict, including artillery, ammunition, and muskets. In 1865, it became part of Fort Sumner and operated as a military post until its closure in 1907.

The town was founded in 1887 by settlers from North Dakota and Minnesota. Green River Trading Post opened in 1889 and served as a post office until 1923. The first school was built in 1888 and the first store opened in 1903. The first doctor arrived in 1907. Green River Dam was built on the Green River in 1924 and has been used for hydroelectric power since 1951. Green River is home to the United States Air Force's Holloman AFB which houses both fighter and bomber wings; it also hosts an Army National Guard unit known as "The Academics." The Holloman AFB Museum tells about USAF life during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam; it also contains an airfield museum with artifacts from many USAAF bases around the world.

It should be noted that not all gunfire is capable of producing explosive rounds/shot shells; some firearms only produce muzzle velocity (a measure which reflects projectile speed) results which fall under Live Ammo category
