In 1902, a new courthouse and jail were built in downtown Cheyenne; this caused increasing traffic congestion around the courthouse which led to its demolition in 1916 and replacement by a much larger building which remains today. Cheyenne reached its peak as an agricultural center during World War II with production of hay, wheat, oats, potatoes and other crops reaching up to 2 million bushels per year; however, since then it has lost some importance due to suburbanization and other changes within the community. Today Cheyenne is home to a few hundred residents who rely heavily on tourism for revenue (mainly from grain elevator tours).

In 1927, Cheyenne became one of five cities served by the newly created Laramie–Laramie Airport Authority; this airport remains operational to this day as part of Juarez Memorial Airport LLC., based in nearby Casper. The airport authority also operates Cheyenne Municipal Airport adjacent to Town Square shopping center off State Route 12A south of town limits; this airport has no commercial use but provides general aviation and helicopter services primarily to local residents and businesses. Although most nondenominational Protestant churches have since been replaced by mosques or other religious organizations in recent years, nearly all aspects of daily life still adhere closely to traditional values attributed with that denomination: polygamy is discouraged while cohabitation is permitted under certain circumstances; adoption is rarely consideredorse than birthright; men are expected to serve their community rather than pursue independent careers outside their home towns; women may work only indoors from morning until evening (during school hours); Sabbath observance includes seven days per week spent reading Scripture outdoors instead of inside church or synagogue/synagogue-sponsored activities
