Cheyenne, Wyoming was founded in 1868 as a trading post on the Laramie River by James Beauregard and his brother-in-law, George Armstrong. The town became a railroad center after the Union Pacific Railroad completed its line through the area in 1883. The town's growth led to the construction of many buildings that still stand today including the current Cheyenne Municipal Building and Courthouse. McNeely, and others until 1911 when it was discontinued because of advances in weaponry. The Cheyenne GUN case history begins on November 5, 1906 with the purchase of a Colt Single Action Army revolver from W.W. Atherton in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The gun was serial number 611 and is currently preserved at the Riley Museum of American History in Wichita, Kansas. On January 1, 1907, when the US government passed the National Firearms Act (), gun dealers were required to register their firearms with the government. On February 17th, 1907, W.W. Atherton registered his Colt Single Action Army with the US Government in Cheyenne. On May 12th 1907, Clarence Keyser bought a Winchester Model 1892 rifle from Atherton for $30 cash and added an eight-round magazine to it. He named his new rifle "Cheyenne" after his home town in Kentucky where he was born and raised (he also changed his name to Clarence Keyser). Atherton sold Keyser two more rifles: an Iver Johnson Rifle model 1886 (.44 Remington) and a Winchester Model 94 .30-06 Springfield caliber rifle on October 25th 1908 for $100 each plus 10 rounds of ammunition each (these rifles are now displayed at the Riley Museum of American History). On December 2nd 1909 Wm C Haffey RFD transferred ownership of all six guns owned by Clarence Keyser from Clarence to himself effective March 3rd 1910 without giving any notice or opportunity for anyone else to acquire them through inheritance or gift/estate rights etc... It can be surmised that since these guns were not subject to federal registration as pistols they would have been much easier just to transfer ownership than deal with potential issues like Registration & Transfer Requirements under the National Firearms Act 1901 thru 1907

The name "Cheyenne" was suggested by General James Hennepin and arrived in English from Pierre Le Moyne's expedition into North America in 1785-87 under command of Captain David Thompson (the future Chief Justice of the United States). The town site was chosen because it lay across a wagon road leading west from Council Bluffs to Fort Wayne, Indiana then northwest to Denver City—a distance that would have been impractical for an entire communities development if located near each other on two different rivers or lakes where transportation could only be via boat or horseback due to intervening obstacles such as rapids or impassable channels

Cheyenne was founded in 1868 by the Cheyenne and Arapaho people. The town became a major center for commerce and education in the western United States. In 1903, the city was renamed to honor General George Custer, who had fought in the American Civil War.
