On June 3, 2007, Mayor Jeffress announced a $10 million dollar bond issue to improve public transportation and infrastructure within Cheyenne and neighboring towns including North Platte and Strongsville; this would also create jobs across all three municipalities. The bond measure passed overwhelmingly with over 60% voter approval statewide. There are many attractions within or outside of Cheyenne proper that offer visitors an opportunity to sample cowboy culture such as rodeo events held at various locations throughout town each year; casinos which often feature western themes; art galleries exhibiting local Native American art; world-renowned breweries such as Cashmere Brewing Company & Blue Moon Brewery which have outdoor seating areas where tourists can enjoy views of downtown Denver; several golf courses located throughout Laramie County including those within walking distance of downtown; powwows taking place annually at different sites around town; horse shows which frequently include demonstrations by rodeo clowns/drivers/etc.; etc., etc., making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in western Wyoming for both locals and out-of-towners alike.

Cheyenne, Wyoming is a town in the wild and beautiful Eagle County in western Colorado. It was founded by the Cheyenne people on November 8, 1868, as Fort Laramie. The first white men to come to Wyoming were those who explored the area around what is now Cheyenne in 1858-59. The fort was built to protect settlers from Apache Indians and other threats. In 1861, when gold seekers started coming to the area, Fort Laramie became an important stop on their trail. In 1865, after peace negotiations failed to bring about resolution between US Indian warriors and US Cavalry troopers stationed at the fort, General Ulysses S. Grant ordered its abandonment. By 1870, only a few buildings remain of the original fortifications. The town of Cheyenne grew up around it as settlement spread out along Buffalo Creek flowing through the community into surrounding hillsides. The first store opened in 1876 and until recently had been one of Wyoming’s most prominent businesses with a large variety of goods available for purchase or trade including livestock, flour, cattle and other goods drawn from far away markets by wagon teams that unloaded at either side of Buffalo Creek Bridge across the creek which linked both towns at different points during summertime deliveries (the bridge still remains). Today many residents are descendants of early pioneers such as Edwin Forrest who settled near present day Dodge City in Kansas Territory before crossing overland into Nebraska Territory for what would be his final years; others hail from all over Western Colorado including Aspen Park descendant Gene Karpyshyn who moved there upon graduation from college; former business headmaster Dick Rasmussen whose family has operated a general store here since 1907; Bill Thorpe “Tribal Chief” Black Elk who led his band of Dakota Sioux Indians against Sitting Bull's forces during Laramie Massacre eighty years ago this January; local historian Tom Iverson who chronicled life in Cheyenne back when Route 66 crossed through town center just north of today's intersection of North Broadway Avenue and North Market Street
