Cheyenne is a small town in Wyoming, United States. It is the seat of Sheridan County and lies on the banks of the Cheyenne River. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. The first permanent settler in what is now Cheyenne was George Armstrong Custer when he and his family arrived there in 1876. They founded a log cabin named "Custer's Fort" on the present site of Civic Center Park. In 1887, John Fetterman built a sawmill and trading post near today's downtown Cheyenne. By 1890, Fetterman had also erected a church and school in town. In 1907, Major General George Armstrong Custer's remains were brought from Hollywood Cemetery to be buried here after he died in battle at Little Bighorn during the Dakota War of 1876. On July 16, 1907, a large crowd attended his funeral procession from Indian Territory to Cheyenne where he was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. The townspeople renamed their local creek "Custer Creek". In 1915, World War I began with Austria-Hungary attacking Serbia; between 1917 and 1918 over 20% of all coal mined in Wyoming came from Cheyenne mines used to fuel munitions production by British Imperial troops fighting on European soil. After WWI ended 1919 (the Treaty of Trianon), Denver became the new capital of Colorado; however, Sheridan County continued to be represented by its two deputies (and one elector) until 1933 when voting districts were redrawn following general elections that year which gave Democrats more representation than Republicans statewide for the first time ever since statehood had been granted to Wyoming on November 6th, 1912. As part as part of this political changeover many businesses around town changed hands including those owned by early settlers such as JF Weller who opened an advertising agency in 1925 before becoming mayoralty candidate for District 2 (today's Civic Center Park). Other notable civic leaders during this time include Harry Schultz who served as sheriff from 1931-1935 while also being city treasurer; Al Stonebraker who served as president pro tempore of the State Senate 1927-1929; Clarence King who served briefly as county auditor 1928-1930; Bob Kapp whose truck dealership operated out of Main Street until it closed down in 1951 followed by other business closures throughout much of the 1950s including most notably Hap Arnold’s grocery store which operated continuously northward off 5th Avenue into recent times until it closed down due toauriity along with numerous others over that period simply because economic conditions deteriorated typically leading to less job creation outside urban cores typically characterized herein rural areas across America particularly but not limited thereto given contemporaneous trends elsewhere within same country especially but not limited thereto are generally identified herein

They named their farm Mormon Village after George Quesnel and Hyrum Smith, two members of President Brigham Young's Quorum of Seventy who had led an unsuccessful push for independence from Mexico at Fort Laramie in 1847. This site became known as Mormon Village because it was within easy walking distance of Cache Valley Farms’ principal store and post office (present-day Rock Springs). In 1902, Cheyenne Municipal Airport was opened by then-Mayor Harry Fenton with funds provided by millionaire banker Oscar Wirths Sr.. At that time, most aviation activity took place outside Cheyenne due to prohibitive airspace restrictions set forth by then–Secretary of Commerce James Murchison. After World War II ended with Hiroshima bombing and America's entry into World War II, commercial airline service began flights into and out of Cheyenne Municipal Airport more frequently than before; this finally resulted in its reopening as an international airport on October 1st, 1994! The city’s rich history can be seen throughout its streets which were once mud pies solidified over centuries with no water or asphalt brought in until recent decades for street resurfacing projects costing upward of $100k per mile! These days however most streets are repaved every few years given howphalte conditions continue to exist without proper maintenance!
