Grant's Expedition against Native American armies during the Indian Wars. After World War I ended with Armistice Day on November 11th 1918, Fort Bridger reverted to military use as an infantry training center before being sold to the University of Wyoming in 1951 and becoming campus headquarters for UNW from 1959-1974. In 1978, following ratification of The United States Constitution by popular vote via referendum ( 52% yes - 48% no), Cheyenne became a city under the jurisdiction of North Platte County pursuant to Act 281 of 1978 which designated certain areas within city limits as open space preserve land for public use including Cache Valley Park & Preserve & Moraine National Forest In 1990-1991 Hurricane Jane caused extensive damage to downtown Cheyenne causing loss of life/property; $200 million damage estimate Restoration began in earnest in earnest in 1993-1994including complete demolition/replacementof all but one wall of original downtown building; new streets were laid outawnward from river edgenew parkland was created uptown along main street

In November 1883, President Grover Cleveland approved Resolution No. 511 authorizing member agencies of the United States Bureau of Land Management to purchase 2 million acres (8 km2) within what are now Laramie, Denver, Wheatland counties for farming and mining purposes only; this included all or parts of present-day Wyoming Territory except Lincoln County which was still being surveyed for ranching title possibilities at that time In 1886–87 an estimated 10%+ population growth occurred due to European American emigration – with up to 100 new settlers per day crossing into Nebraska Territory through Oregon Landing on Blackfoot Bayou in western Fremont County On July 1st 1888 Govt Order No 6046 granted homesteaders 50 acres (20 ha) each on Round Hills Hill Rancho de la Union Viejo eastward along Arkansas Creek towards where modern day Sheridan town begins On October 15th 1890 allotments began flowing out with 640 individuals receiving parcels totaling 3153 acres (128 ha) This rapid acreage distribution led to later problems as many could not afford good farmland while others did not have enough access to water or roads . Financial difficulties forced closure of several mines during these years . By 1893 over 8000 people had contacted authorities looking for assistance with owning land or getting it surveyed ; however no action was taken because Ofd Office Directors believed that such huge lands would never be developed without government sponsorship In 1902 a bill providing $10 per acre ($200 per hectare) gold prospectus privilege became law allowing development but little followed until 1933 when gold discoveries reopened interest By 1907 approximately 6000 people lived in what are today Roosevelt neighborhood downtown; by 1920 it had grown again slightly with 7000 living there by 1930 It reached 16000 by 1940s although declined thereafter due primarily to World War II GI resettlement programs
