Cheyenne is a small town in Wyoming, located on the banks of the Cheyenne River. It was founded by Arapaho Indians in 1868 and became a city in 1907. The population was 1,515 at the 2010 census. The first white person to live in Cheyenne was Capt. John Fetterman of the United States Volunteers who led an expedition upstream from Fort Laramie to trade goods with the Arapaho in 1869. He named his new settlement for General George Armstrong Custer, who had died during an engagement near Bighorn Mountains two years earlier. In 1907, Cheyenne became a city when it surpassed its initial population of 100 residents with the addition of residents from other nearby towns and villages including Beehive City and Sheridan. The name "Cheyenne" is taken from Chief Blackfoot's statement that "the place where I am now sit (in Cheyenne) will always be my home." The City Council adopted Resolution No. 9 dated November 14, 1907 designating December 15th as "Anniversary Day" of Cheyenne's incorporation into this Union County boroughhoods- one day after Bighorn National Monument was established adjacent to town limits! The current downtown area contains over 20 blocks of builtup surface area including several hotels, business districts and theaters; as well as scores of warehouse and industrial buildings dating back to World War II. Centrally located on Main Street within walking distance of most all local businesses are two municipal hospitals: Stroud Memorial Hospital which provides basic medical care for civilians and military personnel serving in Afghanistan or Iraq; also called Stroud Regional Medical Center -serving patients from all corners of Wyoming -and Grand View HealthCare District which includes Cheyne Halltotal Health System providing comprehensive general health care services to both civilian users (elderly residents) as well as military members stationed at Ft Carson Air Force Base or any air force installation throughout western Colorado Springs vicinity!

In 1863, after a series of skirmishes with Paiute and Shoshone Indians, General Sheridan ordered Major John Sleeper to blast a tunnel under the Great Plains so troops could move quickly from one location to another without being attacked by both groups. This attack became known as Battle of White Sands Hill. The city's history began with its incorporation as an independent municipality in 1876. At that time, it was one of only 10 businesses in town (the others were grain elevators). The first mayor was Wm Sells II. On July 1st 1912, at 4:00 PM CST (), Cherry Creek Reservoir burst into flames after being hit by lightning from the sky while employees were cleaning it for use during an annual summer picnic., creating what is now known as "The Incident." As a result of this fire, most all business closed for several days and much damage was done to infrastructure including powerlines and water main lines; however no people were injured or any property destroyed.$275 million dollars in damages were reported statewide within just four years following Cherry Creek's outburst! In 1916 when World War I started there were more businesses open than ever before but because war created shortages throughout America those business closed which lead to social unrest amongitizenry leading eventually to riots later that year…………….. With World War II starting many people decided not to go into work so farms went up and also storage tanks got built because food became scarce again…………………. So much money came about from WWII we almost doubled our GDP!
