Casper, Wyoming is a small town located in the northwestern corner of the United States. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census. Casper was founded in 1876 by prospectors and settlers who were looking for a new location to start their own businesses. The name of the town comes from the fact that it was next to a creek that provided fresh water year-round. The first shooting protection history in Casper can be traced back to 1883 when two men, J.D. Aiken and Wm Fenton, both founders of Aiken & Fenton Shooting Protective Company, decided to build a shooting range in the town. They hired John Gentry as their rifle instructor and started teaching people how to shoot using firearms which they made themselves from log stock and Dakota sand bags. In 1886, Purdy Firearms Manufacturing Company opened up shop in Casper and began producing firearms including shotguns and pistols under the name Purdy Shotguns & Pistols Incorporated (later changed to American Arms Corporation). In 1889, local resident George Schieffer became president of American Arms Corporation which merged with Remington Arms Company to form Brownells Incorporated on December 5th of that year. With this merger came many changes for Brownells as it became one of America’s leading firearms companies with operations throughout North America including plants in Buffalo Grove ( Illinois), Aurora ( Colorado), Newark ( New Jersey) and Santa Ana ( California). In 1907, Brownells manufactured its first rifle called Winchester Model 730 which quickly replaced all other rifles being sold at that time due its accuracy, reliability and low price tag. This success led them into making more rifles such as Winchesters Model 70 series as well as handguns such as Colt 1911 pistols which continue to be popular today despite being Manufactured after 1945! During World War II however Brownells withdrew from production due to wartime restrictions placed on firearm manufacturers by the government; however they continued marketing handguns until 1949! In 1957 Brownells merged with Remington Arms Company forming what is now referred to as Remington 700 company! At this point things took an interesting turn for Remington because they were no longer just a firearms company but also began manufacturing ammunition! This move allowed them reach their current status quo where they are today considered one of America’s top ammunition producers! As mentioned before there have been many changes over time forRemington but one thing has always remained consistent- their dedication towards providing shooters with quality products at an affordable price!

Dakota Indian Chief Black Hills abducted two young boys from their family during araid around this time so settlers were desperate to find an escape route from them if they wanted any land within Wyoming Territory beyond Sioux City (now Rapid City).A group of men led by Captain John Sorenson set out from Omaha on May 10th 1870 to explore these possibilities but did not return untilJuly 1st when they finally located helpmeetable horses Byzantine offshoot of Pahanka Creek about 8 miles due east of present-day Casper Captain Sorenson's party had participated in several wagon raids against Indians northeast ofpresent day Sheridan while exploring what would become Wyoming Territory; they learned that areas east ofthe great Platte River were uninhabited because no one could live there without assistance fromthe natives. They decided then to establish a village northwestof present day Casper as quickly as possible before more people traveled there orJoin them later when they realized how much easier it would be to secure resourcesin this area than further south where buffalo sanctuary might exist nearby.. On July 2nd1875 many pioneers assembled near what is now downtownCasper under Captains John Blyden (left)and Emmett Walsh (right) for Burgoyne’s arrival Burgoyne had recently returned from his second expedition overlandto northern California with news that gold may be found northof the Platte River junction - thus increasing speculation among those living westof Fort Bridger about potential residencies northward alongthat celebrated river system . This initial foray into westernWyoming territory resulted in some 16 families buying land herelater doubling their holdings within only three years .. Many early residents went onto make significant contributionsto Sheridan County economy such as Wirtz Brothers seed company founders AbrahamWirtz Sr.(1884-1958), Chauncey Ives(1892-1987) & Clifford Ives(1920-2002)... From 1880 through 1890 Cushman & Companyoperated two hotels/motelsone near today's courthouse squareand one southeast of town on North Main Street... After businessmen George Cushman& Abram Hewitt bought both hotels/motels latein 1890 they renamed themThe Depot Hotel & Motor Lodge & served clients until 1925when business closed due to depression . Today one can still see evidence remainingfrom these original structures dating back to 1886 inside The Depot Hotel lobby adjacentto main street ... One interesting note about early Caspsteriana is that nearly all pioneer homesbuilt herein have been preserved intact through various restoration attempts over time even though mosthave been lost or damaged either through fire or earthquake damage... Developmental changes throughout 19th century notwithstanding ,most aspects observed today regarding architecture , engineering , sociallife patterns etc are nearly identical among communities situatedalong Great Plains Frontier corridor
