Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 10,321 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Fox River between Green Bay and Milwaukee. Wisconsin Rapids residents have been using photography for centuries; early images from Wisconsin are evidence of this tradition. In 1841, photographer Wm Hargrave took a series of prints of scenes around his home in what is now downtown Wisconsin Rapids. These prints were used as reference material for developing negatives and printing these photos onto photographic paper which was then used to create prints and keep archives of local history alive today! The first modern photo camera came into use in America during World War I when American photographers began using Leica cameras with lenses made by Zeiss optics company engineers during that war effort! It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Wisconsin Rapids were French Canadians who arrived in 1792 and named it "Richelieu" after Cardinal Richelieu, a French cardinal who served as Minister of Finance in the reign of Louis XVIII. The village incorporated as a township on March 14, 1836. In 1912, the United States Congress passed an act granting citizenship to all Native Americans living west of Mason Dixon Line and north of Chicago while they awaited assimilation into American society. This Act was known as the Indian Citizenship Act and gave these people permanent resident status and access to government benefits such as social security payments and education opportunities for their children. During World War II, local farmers produced crops for military purposes using early canals built by Appleton entrepreneur John Kohlmeyer to provide irrigation water for agriculture in northern Wisconsin and throughout Michigan and Ohio; this helped support World War II's largest military operation ever conducted by the United States—the Normandy Invasion—and madeWisconsin Rapids one of America's most heavily bombed cities during that war. Since then, many businesses have opened up around town including restaurants/cafes/bars/nightlife (including two casinos) along with a large number of small businesses providing services such as home repair/maintenance or lawn care services. In recent years there has also been some development around downtown where several high-end hotels are being built which will bring more jobs into town while also increasing retail options available to shoppers within walking distance from both business districts!

Wisconsin Rapids is a town in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 4,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. The town was founded on November 15, 1852 by John L.Morey and James W.Lamb as a portmanteau of "Capitol" (the capital of Missouri) and "Rapids" (a tributary of the Wisconsin River). The townsite was named for rapids on the river that could be seen from its banks. Wisconsin Rapids grew rapidly due to its location on the then-new Milwaukee Road. In 1871, it became an incorporated city and soon had a population of over 100 people. By 1907, however, it had shrunk to 721 people due to heavy logging and other economic decline in Sheboygan County during the early 20th century. In 1919, when Sheboygan County merged with Racine County, Wisconsin Rapids became part of that new countyalthough its ZIP code remains 65101 today because it was not within Racine’s boundaries until 1998. By 1936, however, most residents had moved out of state or died in World War II leaving few reminders of their past except for one small bank building still standing in town today which opened as a post office in 1911
The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Wisconsin Rapids were French fur traders in the 17th century. The area was later called the "Cascade" region because of its many waterfalls. The first permanent settler in what is now Wisconsin Rapids was Samuel Smith, who built a cabin on the north bank of the rapids in 1823. By 1830, there were over 20 settlers living in the town. In 1832, a post office was established in Wisconsin Rapids and it remained operational until 1957. During this time, the town had two churches, five schools and a Masonic lodge. In 1854, a railroad station was built andWisconsin Rapids became an important stop on the Milwaukee and Western Railroad. In 1865, another railroad station was built in nearby Mayville and Wisconsin Rapids became an important transportation hub for both Milwaukee and Chicago.
