Whitefish Bay is a small town in the Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,694 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Appleton–Hastings metropolitan area. The bay was named by Russian fur trader Vitus Bering after his ship "Erebus" foundered on its shores in 1812. In 1846, Ulysses S. Grant visited Whitefish Bay and recommended it for aU.S. military post because of its strategic location between Green Bay and Milwaukee on the Mississippi River. At first, only officers were stationed there; but in 1861, General James Hays established Fort Howard here to protect the river route from Indian attacks. The fort served as an arsenal and garrison until 1865 when it was replaced by Fort Snelling. Whitefish Bay is located at (41°42′48″N 86°27′24″W). It has an elevation of . According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. The harbor features several docks that can accommodate larger vessels such as cruise ships and tugboats operators use during their stays in Whitefish Bay or during their crossings of Lake Michigan or Superior National Wildlife Refuge opened nearby: Sturgeon Point Marina (Lodge Dock), Big Dock Marina (Portage Dock), and Little Dock Marina (Quarterdeck Dock). There are also several smaller boats ramps available for access by small craft operators who use these areas for landing/takeoff from their vessels while visiting Whitefish Bay or passing through this narrow strait between Superior National Wildlife Refuge to the south and GreenBay Harbor to the north-west; much like other lakes around Wisconsin which have numerous ice fishing sites accessible year-round!

During World War II, much of this activity stopped because of wartime restrictions on trade with Nazi Germany. However, some of the old businesses still operate today such as Whitefish Brewing Company and Fischer’s Fishing Shop which are responsible for keeping the community alive today despite its lack of commercial fishing industry involvement (today).
Whitefish Bay is a small, unincorporated community in the town of Seymour, Racine County, Wisconsin. The community was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1847 and named for the whitefish that were abundant in the bay.
