In 1857, John Hargrave purchased land east of Weston from Nicholas Kolb for $25 per acre. He built a log cabin there which he called Hargrave's Grove. When he died in 1865, his wife (Mary) continued to live there until her death in 1901. The Groves were sold to Augustus Prentice in 1907 for $10 per acre. Prentice further developed it into a small town with stores, churches and homes. He named it Weston after his late father-in-law's birthplace near Ulm, Germany (now Vienna).

Weston, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin that is the county seat of Winnebago County. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. Weston was founded by Captain George Weston and his wife Jane in 1836 as part of a fur-trade settlement near present-day Superior, Wisconsin. The town had a population of 711 at the 2010 census, but it was reduced to 5,521 by 2018 due to natural attrition and recent growth in nearby Evanston Township. The first settler in what would become Weston was Captain George Weston and his wife Jane who arrived from Canada in 1836 with their five children following an agreement made between Captain Weston and President James K. Polk during the American Civil War. In early 1840s, another group of English immigrants settled on a farm west of present day Weston which they named Westonsville after their leader's father who moved there from Derby, England in 1769 when he achieved land ownership within present day Winnebago County. The area around today's downtown Weston was then forested with small towns existing scattered throughout the region such as Clear Lake (now Racine), Northfield, Uptonville (now Elkhorn) and White River Junction beforeWisconsin became a state in 1848 following its admission into the Union under General Anthony Wayne. In 1872 Captain George Weston donated land for what would become known as "The University" which would be located on what is now Northwestern University's campus east of downtown Milwaukee with courses starting on September 15th that year followed by other university campuses throughout Wisconsin until 1946 when it merged with Marquette University becoming one entity with over 100 colleges and universities across eight states under one roof making it one of largest metropolitan areas in America outside New York City where Manhattan has sections including Upper Manhattan composed largely of high-rise buildings built after World Trade Center Attack which destroyed much lower density neighborhoods adjacent to Times Square). This merger also resulted in creation of new school districts within Winnebago County including West Valley Elementary School District No 2 which serves students living within 1 mile (1 km) or less radius around Northwestern University along Madison Avenue between Chicago Boulevard and State Street; Green Bay East High School District No 1 serving students living within 3 miles (5 km) or less radius along Green Bay Boulevard from Milwaukee Avenue to Interstate 94; Waukesha South High School District No 2 serving students living within 10 miles (16 km) or more radius along Waukesha Avenue from I-94 south to Highway 14; Racine Valley Unified School District No 1A serving students living within 12 miles (19 km) or more radius along Racine Avenue east from I-94 north to Highway 9.; Wausau Consolidated SchoolDistrict No 2A serving students living within 16 miles (24 km) or more radius along Wausau Avenue east from WI-9 south to Highway 62;and Oshkosh Area Intermediate Unit #2 Serving students residing within 20 miles (32 km) or more Radius along Oshkosh Road east from US 61 north to WI 622
In 1854, the town of Weston was founded by James Fenton. The town grew rapidly and in 1871, it had a population of 1,500 people. By 1893, Weston had 5,000 residents and by 1923, it had 10,000 residents. In 1978, the town of Weston merged with the neighboring city of Racine to form the city of Racine.
