In 2013, Oneida Development sold its shareholding in "Weston Park" to iStar Financial Inc., which continued to operate it as an open-air mall until 2016 when it closed due to economic conditions within the city limits combined with competition from local stores nearby.

Weston, Wisconsin was first settled by German immigrants in the mid-1800s. The town was named after Captain Weston who led a group of settlers in 1836 from the city of Milwaukee. In 1846, the town was laid out into a township and it became a village in 1914. The population of Weston grew rapidly during World War II and in 1951, it became a city.
