West Bend is a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 37,752. The town was founded in 1854 and named for George West Bend, an American statesman and member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Wisconsin Territory. The first post office was established in 1855 and the name changed to West Bend in 1857 due to its location on the western edge ofMilwaukee County. The first white settlers arrived in what is now West Bend in 1854 and named it after George West Bend, an American statesman who had represented Wisconsin Territory in Congress earlier that year. The first settler here were Jens Christensen and his family which moved from Denmark in 1850; they soon began to cultivate land around present-day North Park Road near what is now East Side Market Square. In 1861 when Milwaukee County was organized into wards (then called townships), West Bend became part of Milwaukee Ward 1 while East Side remained within East Side Market Square until it was annexed by West Wingville Township on February 14, 1916. In 1902 when Western Electric Company opened a new electric power plant south of downtown Milwaukee at Waukesha Avenue & Clyberry Road, industry quickly grew around it which led to development along Clyberry Road east of Waukesha Avenue including many large homes built between 1901-1910 for industrialists such as John Davenport and George Peabody Jr.. These homes are still standing today with their characteristic Art Deco design features typical of this era including high ceilings and walls made out of reinforced concrete blocks with glass panes above street level windows providing natural light throughout most days inside or outside these residences during summer months however most exterior windows have been replaced with modern windowpanes since then making these residences lessvisible from the road but more visible from inside where they remain popular tourist destinations today despite not having any residential use anymore since Waukesha Boulevard was rerouted several times over the years making this area much busier than it used to be allowing only occasional visitors inside these residences during daylight hours since commercial activities have taken over again resulting in very little privacy for residents nowadays even though some recent renovations may have restored some original features if you get past all the security guards). although there has been some redevelopment recently taking place along Clyberry Road east of Waukesha Avenue none has resulted yet so far in any major change or interruption to current Residents’ lifestyles or use of their homes which remain popular tourist destinations today despite not having any residential use anymore

West Bend is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 10,723 at the 2010 census, making it the 8th most populous town in Wisconsin and the 2nd most populous municipality in Milwaukee County. The name "West Bend" is derived from a bend in the River of the West branch of the Menominee River which flowed through town Site A on what is now State Road 29. As early as 1836, it had been decided that this bend would be called "Wenatchee." The first settlers arrived hereabouts in 1836, and by 1840 there were 50 people living hereabouts. Some of these pioneers were members of The Prairie Schooling Company which was organized to promote education for Native Americans and others who wanted to learn English as their second language. They also built a log cabin on what is now State Road 29 to serve as their home until they could find a more permanent location. In 1845, when State Road 242 was laid out through present-day west end of town, Wenatchee became part of that route; so too did Village A about two miles east along SR 242 near its junction with CR 535 (now US 7). In 1850, both villages had about 100 residents each; but soon after that they grew rapidly into very large settlements with over 1,000 residents by 1860 when one report counted “between 1,200 and 1,300” people living thereabouts! By 1870–71 there were over 3 dozen homes or buildings existing within Wenatchee limits alone! But even before then growth had begun to accelerate; development within village boundaries began almost immediately following incorporation – with lots available for purchase starting at just $25 per acre! And by 1880 much of what we see today within our limits had already been developed: grain elevators surrounded all around us on either side of Main Street (then CR 535), sawmills dotting every rural square mile like mushrooms throughout those years (“the great sawmills”), churches/synagogues clustered together like grapes on an vines outside your window – all evidence that commerce thrived right up until World War II! As businesses density increased so did crime rates; but during prohibition times things got really bad because bootlegging quickly became an essential part of many local economies! But despite some tough times during prohibition – including several armed robberies inside Wenatchee boundaries during 1919-1920 – overall business activity continued to grow steadily until well after Prohibition repealed itself in 1933! It wasn't long before new waves started moving into Wenatchee: families looking for bigger towns to raise children in while still being able to provide quality education nearby (though prices for real estate kept going up!), young professionals looking for starter homes while still having plenty of room to grow!, etc.; but everything changed once WWII came around… WWII brought prosperity back not only to Wenatchee but also parts adjoining it such as La Crosse and Racine counties (!); however individual households didn't experience nearly as high levelsOf economic growth thanks largely due To wartime shortages Of foodstuffs (especially meat) Which caused prices for housing And other necessities To go up significantly!. This led directly To major social unrest culminating In racial violence That rocked this small community For weeks After Pearl Harbor!!
West Bend was founded by the Potawatomi and Menominee Indian tribes in 1836. The town was named for the bend in the river where it was first settled, which is now known as West Bend Road. The town grew rapidly during the 1840s due to its location on the main stagecoach route between Milwaukee and Chicago. In 1851, West Bend became a city, and soon developed into one of Wisconsin's leading agricultural communities. During World War II, West Bend played a significant role in the creation of munitions factories in nearby Rockford and Racine.
