West Bend, Wisconsin is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Polk County. The population was 22,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first gun in West Bend was a rifle dating back to 1847 when it belonged to Captain John Lillie of the 2nd Regiment Illinois Volunteers who fought during the Mexican-American War as part of General Santa Anna's army. In 1872, Samuel Colt introduced his revolver to America at a gun show in Cincinnati, Ohio; this new equipment allowed for more efficient hunting and self-defense than prior firearms designs which relied on loading and unloading cartridges one by one from an armory or magazine with manual reloading operations. At this time, rifles were still being used for militia duty and target shooting due to their firepower while handguns had not yet been fully developed as tools for personal protection. In 1875, Driggs & Whitney began manufacturing revolvers here in West Bend using components imported from England (the original contract was awarded to them by Abraham Lincoln). This helped increase business for local manufacturers like Colt who suddenly found themselves at a disadvantage due to imports flooding into America at this time - until then guns had been essentially copies of European models with some modifications here and there that weren't too different from what Europeans were doing already! A few months after this initial win over American competition, Driggs & Whitney partnered up with Chubb & Richardson who made similar revolvers but also contained metal frame construction instead of wood which gave them an advantage against accidental fire accidents caused by poor workmanship on factory floors! In 1886 however, both companies went their separate ways when Chubb merged with James Browne's National Arms Company forming Browning Arms Corporation where Western Electric products eventually continued production until 2003 before ceasing all exports within that decade! The first pistols produced in West Bend were given serial numbers beginning with “1” followed by 4 digits appended like so: “7HN” meaning 7 inches long barrel/handgun grip/night sights/etc., etc.. pistols made between 1865-1886 typically carried these number patterns even if they didn’t have individual serial numbers just like rifles did back then! For example: pistol #1 might have been model years 1865 thru 1868 (serial number 1), pistol #2 might have been model year 1870 thru 1874 (serial number 5), holster Pistol #3 might have been model years 1875 thru 1886 (serial number 6)… etcetera! But really any old handgun could potentially carry a “1” through “9999″ serial number all across its inventory because even though each manufacturer put their own spin on things back then, guns generally arrived brand new minty clean inside and out without any damage whatsoever!!! That said though some later models may have received a pre-existing serial number that wasn't listed above – don’t be surprised if you happen upon something interesting someday just check its catalogues!! lol !!!"

In 1876, the company changed its name to The National Firearms Company and began producing shotguns. By 1915, the National Firearms Company had become a rifle manufacturer, and by 1920 it was a shotgun manufacturer as well.

The community began as a rural hamlet on the banks of the Mississippi River some miles west of present-day Milwaukee. In 1831, settlers named it after Benton (the capital city in Missouri at that time),Wisconsin Territory's first territorial governor and one of its original four commissioners; this name change followed a local contest won by John Hays from nearby Mayesville. A post office was established at West Bend in 1837, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1904. By 1860, when Wisconsin became an state, West Bend had grown to about 100 people. By 1870, its population had increased to 1,000 people; growth continued through most of the 19th century until significant abandoned or destroyed land within its borders caused a decline in population during the early 20th century. However, following World War II there was significant growth due to new industry brought about by manufacture along with military installation activity associated with Milwaukie Naval Shipyard and other locations near the town center including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (now MIT) and Waukesha County Agricultural College (now UW-Madison). In 1990, before I started working here as an educator I used to go out there for soccer practice with my friends on Sundays morning before heading home for work which is about 8 minutes away from our house...It felt like we were part of their town too!
