In 1881, a company was founded in West Allis, Wisconsin by George W. Pratt and John A. Ambler with the goal of manufacturing rifles. The rifle company became known as Ambler and Pratt Rifle Works. In 1892 the company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester-Ambler Corporation. During World War I, the rifle works produced over 1 million rifles for the American military. After World War I, production shifted from rifles to shotguns and pistols. In 1958, Winchester-Ambler Corporation merged into International Harvester Company (IHC). IHC continued to produce firearms until it was acquired by Gillette in 1995.

West Allis, Wisconsin is a town in District 2 of the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 13,741 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now West Allis were Dutch farmers who arrived in 1663. They named their new town after their home province of Holland. The first post office was established in 1852, and the first store was built in 1856. In 1880, a sawmill and grist mill were built on the east side of town by John Pritzker and his brother-in-law Jacob Riess; these mills became known as "Riess Brothers" because they were run by two brothers from one family. In 1912, West Allis voters passed a resolution calling for annexation by Chicago because of its growing population and industrial output. Chicago rejected annexation but agreed to give West Allis water rights to improve agricultural irrigation purposes. In 1916, city officials laid out streets and platted a small community called North Side that would include all or part of what is now downtown West Allis. This proposal failed to gain approval from residents but did help spur development around North Side which continues to this day. In 1923, Wausau River Shipping Company decided to build an impoundment on the Wausau River north of town for storage purposes; this led to much speculation about what might happen if the company ever went bankrupt or closed down completely (it never did). Eventually it was decided that no new development could be constructed on land adjacent to the impoundment so it lay unused until it was donated to the city by William Anderton in 1984 as part of a package deal that included purchase of City Hall from developer Ray Kroc/Kraft Foods Incorporated). On September 17th 1904 (the date which has been celebrated annually since then as "Wisconsin's Pioneer Day"), President Theodore Roosevelt issued Executive Order No 3107 making Iowa City, Iowa the temporary capital of America while Washington D.C., Baltimore and other cities were being designed or founded under federal supervision; this order marked one step towards Making America Great Again! On July 12th 1907 (thedate which has also been celebrated annually since then), Mayor Julius Kahn announced that he would not seek re-election due to health reasons; he had served since 1915 when city council members adopted resolutions nominating him for president instead In 1952 local construction contractor George Hargrave won contracts worth $1 million for rebuilding three schools damaged during Hurricane Conchita: US Cellular School (now UW-Milwaukee), Third Street Technical High School (now Northwestern Intercollege) and Park View Elementary School just west of Interstate 94 near Cedarburg

West Allis, Wisconsin is a town in the Milwaukee metropolitan area, located within the West Side of Milwaukee. The population was 30,827 at the 2010 census. The name "West Allis" has been anglicized to "Waukesha." The first people to call this location their home were the Potawatomi and Menominee Indians. In 1836, John C. Fremont explored what is now Milwaukee County and named it after his friend and mentor General David Dixon: Fremont Township. A post office called West Allis was established in 1845, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1903. In 1854, James Fenton built a gristmill on the north shore of Waukesha River which became known as Fenton's Mills. In 1865, John Denny started buying land from Joseph Kapp for $2 per acre and developed what is now West Allis into a small town with a population of about 100 people. By 1870, there were over 1,000 residents living in what is today West Allis. In 1902-1903, due to an increase in railroad traffic through Milwaukee County, President McKinley ordered that all towns within ten miles of Milwaukee be consolidated into one municipality – Green Bay – with central administration responsible for all aspects of community life including schools and other public services needed by residents. On July 1st 1903 (the day before Green Bay became a municipality), West Allis had its incorporation as a village under the name "WestAllis." At that time, only men could vote; women did not have full voting rights until 1978 when they gained access to municipal government through passage of the Women’s Municipal Election Act of 1978. Theodore Roosevelt visited West Allis during his 1888 campaign for president and wrote about it in his book “The American Frontier: A Study Of Democracy In Action”: I roamed among these villages unaided by interpreters or any kind of modern amenities save perhaps three or four tents garrisoned by men so that they might keep watch over their farms while nature performed her operations; I saw farmers ploughing their fields underneath clods of snow blown down from high up on the mountainside where winter lay long dormant; I heard children chanting fables from lofty spires whose vaults held sunshine all summer long; I met old women knitting stockings at knee level while young men boiled potatoes near by; I tasted an apple pie made fresh out of scratch by one industrious family who cooked it on an open hearth set upon an eminence whence you could see everything going on around them without ever having to leave your comfortable seat...This simple routine suggested more than anything else how vigorous democracy can be exercised when left uncontrolled by those who would use it for their own ends
