The first gun target in West Allis, Wisconsin was a blacksmith shop on North Main Street. The target was donated by the town and installed in 1868. The town's first rifle range opened in 1892, and the first shotgun range opened in 1903.
West Allis is a city in Wisconsin, United States. The population was 53,898 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Milwaukee County. West Allis is located on the eastern edge of Milwaukee County and is bordered by Wauwatosa to the north, Racine to the east, Brookfield to the south, and Sheboygan to the west. The city's location along Interstate 94 makes it an important transportation center for metropolitan Milwaukee and western Wisconsin. The first settlers in what would become West Allis came from New York City in 1836. They arrived on one of two boats that made the trip from Great Lakes ports across Lake Michigan; these pioneers were among those who founded Aurora and now Chicago. The others arriving later included many Germans, Irishmen and Swedes who had been driven out of their homes during American Civil War (1861-1865). Many businesses were started by these early arrivals: grocery stores, breweries, flour mills and other agriculture products manufacturing companies such as Singer Sewing Machine Company (the company still exists), Telephone Manufacturing Company (now Comcast) and John A. Rubeo Cheese Factory (closed down in 2006). In 1871 when a new line was built through town linking withMilwaukee Junction railroad stations providing direct access to downtownMilwaukee via Highway 41st Street/I-94; this increased business opportunities for local entrepreneurs which helped contribute to growth of medieval buildings including First National Bank building completed in 1892 & Muhlenberg Brewery completed in 1901 (& demolished 1979). By 1900 there were over 20 businesses operating within walking distance of each other & more than 100 people employed by 50% of all businesses surveyed! During prohibition era many jobs opened up as bootleggers turned illegal alcohol into cash crops; however not all businessmen participated in this activity & some resisted Prohibition efforts while others supported it financially or politically. Only after repeal did most people return to normal lives & BUSINESS MODEL CHANGES BEGAN TO IMPACT THE CITIES OF MILWAUKEE COUNTY STARTING IN THE1970s WITH INDUSTRIALIZATION OF THE LABOR MARKET WOWING PEOPLE WITH NEW TECHNOLOGIES LIKE ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS THAT OPEN UP NEW BUSINESS OPTIONS FOR ENTERTAINMENT OR SERVICES THAT THEIR FAMILIES WERE MISSING OUT ON BEFORE! Some examples include KFC moving from Oak Lawn into West Allis due largely to its LOCAL YOUTUBE SERVER having streams available 24/7365 making chicken dinners even more popular than ever before (& also creating LOTS OF GOOD SALES); Jamba Juice starting up as an open air market selling fruit juices outdoors near stadiums during baseball games (& continues today); Applebee’s opening their first restaurant outside Chicago (& expanding rapidly both inside& outside Chicago over time); Wendy’s opening up next door to Pabst Brewing Company becoming one of Midwest’s FIRST BURGERSHAKES with HUGE variety NOW INCLUDING FRESH Fruits; AMC changing locations 3 times within WI due mainlyto private investors investing money into various properties(mostly movie theaters) Today marks Over 50 years since incorporation ofWestAllis into our great stateof Wisconsin !!! West Allis was founded in 1854 by George Washington Carver. The town is located in the central part of Wisconsin and is a center for agricultural production. It became an important city after World War II, when it grew as a manufacturing center. West Allis has a rich history that can be found from its founding to the present day.
In 1847, the city of West Allis was founded by Swedish immigrants. The town grew quickly and in 1881, it became a city. In 1911, West Allis merged with the neighboring town of Racine to form the city of Milwaukee.
