West Allis, Wisconsin is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Clark County. The population was 82,824 at the 2010 census, making it the second-most populous city in Wisconsin after Milwaukee. It is the largest municipality in Clark County by total area. The city is located on and around a large bend in the Fox River, approximately 12 miles (19 km) north of Milwaukee and 15 miles (24 km) east of Chicago. The first people to inhabit what is now West Allis were Chippewa Indians who hunted game and gathered plants near where they lived today's City Hall Park and on Lake Michigan. In 1836, General Jonathan Weiser founded a small town called "Allis" on land that he had acquired from the Chippewa Indians through his role as governor of Michigan Territory. The new town began as a log cabin community with only 10 residents. By 1840, Allis had become an important fur trading center for Native Americans along the Great Lakes region due to its location at one end of a trade route between these regions and Europe via Lake Superior

The popularity of choke smoking declined throughout the 1920s until World War II brought about new methods of manufacturing firearms which again restricted availability of choke devices on many products. However, during World War II there was an increase in demand for military sniper rifles which required higher quality ammunition than available at home gardens across America; this led directly to increased production costs for choke devices which then became available once again through wholesalers willingto pay higher prices for NRA-approved equipment . . . even if it wasn't always safe or practical to use them!

West Allis was founded in 1854 by John F. Geiger and his wife, Sarah, as a small town on the banks of the Wabash River. The town grew quickly and soon became a major agricultural center, producing wheat, corn, soybeans, apples, and other crops. In 1916, West Allis merged with neighboring Racine to form one large city. Today, West Allis is a thriving community with a rich history that can be enjoyed today as well as when it was first envisioned or established. The city of West Allis was named for George Washington Allis who donated land to the new town in 1854. The allis family hadowned land in present-day Illinois since the 17th century. George Washington Allis had purchased 640 acres east of Chicago from the Buonsacchi family in 1825 and then sold it to settlers in what is now Racine County. He also donated property north of downtown to make way for the new town site on which he laid out a square block on May 10th of that year. The original name for the settlement was Yorktown but changed after residents complained about its similarity to Yorktown ( Virginia) during the American Revolution. In 1857, when Wisconsin became an independent state, George Washington Allis again contributed land to west side of Racine County towards what would become WestAllis Township.. By 1860 there were over 100 people living in WestAllis Township including 12 farmers and 8 mechanics who raised chickens and hogs on their homes’ lots until railroads arrived in America during this time making farming more profitable than ever before! This allowed for larger families to own their own homes not just lease them from others! In 1862 when Railroads began coming into America they brought factories with them which meant jobs for people not just farmers! A sawmill opened up near where school now stands providing education for children while their parents worked at home! By 1865 there were 5 stores along Main Street serving everyone from farmers down to mechanics! During this time many young men left home early To serve their country while others married women here instead of going off to fight wars abroad!!! Many members of our city council have served here through good times bad times!!!!!! We are blessed!!!!!
