West Allis, Wisconsin is a city in the Milwaukee metropolitan area, and the seat of Milwaukee County. The population was estimated to be 102,545 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Wisconsin after Milwaukee. West Allis is one of two cities in Wisconsin that are considered "high-tech" areas, and it has been called the "Silicon Valley ofWisconsin." The first settlers to what is now West Allis were three men from New York City who arrived on horseback on November 6, 1836. They named their new town 'Allis' after John F. Allin, a senator from Ohio who had previously represented that state in Congress. The town was incorporated on April 24, 1837. In 1862, when Abraham Lincoln became president, he moved westward from Springfield into Racine County and chose West Allis as his temporary winter capital because he felt that Racine would not support him if he were elected president again in 1864 with Illinois votes instead of Wisconsin votes. The first post office opened in West Allis on January 1, 1839; it was closed by April 24, 1861 due to Indian Wars between American Indians and United States forces. However no sign of an early post office remains today as all mail passed through Green Bay until about 1870 when stagecoaches began running through Waukesha County more frequently making deliveries there rather than going through Green Bay which at that time was part of Racine County - giving rise to the name 'Granite City'. It wasn't until February 28th 1898 when Samuel Morse sent a telegraph message across Lake Michigan calling attention to a signal fire near Marquette Island (now part of Chicago) without actually visiting that island - this event being known as 'the Opening Of The Western World.' This gave rise to another nickname for West Allis: 'Morseville'. On October 15th 1906 Junko Ohno set out on foot from her home at Kamioka Village southwest of Osaka along what is now State Highway 146 (now US Highway 61) towards Sheboygan Rapids where she hoped she might find coal during an active flood season but arrived too late because heavy rains caused extensive flooding which also destroyed many homes southeast of Sheboygan Rapids including Ohno's old home which still stands today facing Sheshegan River bluff overlooking downtown Waukesha

This device used an 1850’s design for a hand gun thatfired projectiles by means of an expandable metal breechblock that opened along its length when squeezed. This block also had two flanges on either side to allow it to be attached to clothing or other objects so that it could be fired from close range. It is interesting to note that this firearm was not only successful but helped spawn many subsequent firearms designs over the years!

West Allis was founded on October 15, 1854 by German immigrants as Racine, WI and named for General George Washington West and his forces who had destroyed a French fort there on September 30th, 1763 during the Seven Years' War. The first post office opened in 1856 and was located near what is now Waukesha Avenue and Water Street. In 1864 it became an incorporated town under the name Racine with a population of around 14000 people. The Badger State Fairgrounds were built in 1915 adjacent to downtown West Allis on Waukesha Boulevard which served as Exhibition Park until 1967 when it was turned into an open-air shopping mall with a large IMAX theater that still uses its original construction materials today
