Waupun, Wisconsin is a small town located in the heart of Wisconsin’s Driftless Area. In 1902, the Waupun Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in Waupun. The club bought a rifles and pistols from Emmett & Meineke (now Remington) and began to shoot at local fairs. In 1907, the club moved to its present location on State Street in Waupun. In 1916, the club purchased a rifle from the United States Army for use at World War I recruitment drives. The club continued to shoot at local fairs until 1921 when it became an unaffiliated society. In 1932, the Waupun Rifle and Pistol Club changed its name to the Wisconsin Rifle and Pistol Association (WRPA). In 1953, WRPA merged with the Milwaukee Gun Owners League (MGL) to form the Wisconsin Firearms Federation (WFF). In 1979, WRPA changed its name again toWisconsin Sportsmen's Federation (WSF).

Waupun is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the central part of the state. The population was 9,836 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat for Dane County and lies about 20 miles (32 km) east-northeast of Milwaukee on US Highway 12. The first European to set foot on what is now Waupun soil was French explorer Jacques Marquette in 1673. He named it after Jean de Waupon, an Ottawa soldier who accompanied him on his first exploration of this area west of Lake Michigan. A post office called Waupun was established in 1837, and remained so until 1959 when it became a center for educational services within Dane County under local government jurisdiction as part of a larger reorganization of that system which included Milwaukee. According to one source, "Waupun" means "place where ducks nested." This may be because during times there were many ponds hereabouts which provided water for duck hunting by early settlers; or because this site lay near where several important rivers emptied into Lake Michigan - making it an ideal place to stage hunts from early days. Another theory suggests that this name comes from an Ojibwa word meaning "a place where they gather potatoes," since potatoes were then a very valuable crop hereabouts and hunted seasonally by Native Americans accordingly. Whatever its origin, the choice seems clear: Waupun would become one of those small but strategically important towns located close to places such as Chicago and Detroit that became increasingly important with each passing year due to their huge Trade Centers developing thereabouts!
The town of Waupun was founded in 1836 by immigrants from Hungary. The town grew rapidly, and in 1854 it became a city. The city prospered, and in 1907 it became the state capital of Wisconsin. In 1917, the city lost its charter and became a town.
