Manufacturing companies like these helped contribute to Waupun’s reputation as one of America’s “cities of industry” during the Progressive Era period. The growth of industry led to increased pollution which negatively impacted both downtownWaupunkuandthe environment around it; eventually leading to lawsuits against several businesses involved in polluting practices! This type of litigation has continued into recent years as business owners continue to try and change their ways in order to improve their neighborhoods while still living within municipal limits

Waupun, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and has a population of 3,827 as of the 2010 census. The name is derived from the Ojibwe word "waku". Waupun was first settled by German immigrants in 1836 and became a town in 1854. The first post office was founded in Waupun on November 2, 1853. Waupun has been served by the Milwaukee metropolitan area since 1971. The city of Milwaukee is located within Waupun's boundaries. The region now known as Wisconsin was originally inhabited by various Sauk and Potawatomi tribes until 1764 when they were forced to cede their lands to British colonists under the Treaty of Paris following the Seven Years' War. Many Germans also moved into what is now Wisconsin during this time and founded towns such as Racine (now Racine), Milwaukee, Green Bay, Menomonee Falls, Appleton, Watertown and other settlements including Waupon which would become the nucleus for present-day Waupun. In 1836, German immigrants arrived at what is now downtown Waupon after being refused entry into neighboring Racine because their bushels of oats would not have sufficed to feed either village’s estimated 1,500 residents (). That fall, three Lutheran pastors opened up worship services at what later became Assemblies Hall on North Main Street (). Pastor Julius Kapp assigned his congregation to take care of building repairs needed on the property then leased it back to them for $100 per year (). In 1840, Kapp sold his share in Assemblies Hall () to Friedrich Pohl who renamed it Staatsanwaltschaftshalle (), or State Attorney’s Office Headquarters (). On January 7th of that year (), Pohl granted incorporation to what would become the Town of Waupon with a population OF 3 people (). That same year saw another milestone when lumberman Johann Gottfried Krause donated land at Prairie du Chien Creek () southeast of town for an agricultural school he had started called “Gottfried Krause Agricultural School”(). Classes began September 11th(), but due to lack of enrollment () it closed down early in 1840 before reaching its second semester ();[1] however Krause donated additionalland so that eventually an addition was built which still stands today (the current Administration Building). In May 1850 Territory Governor John Cavanaugh certified that “Waunakee Township does exist without any part thereof attached thereto” pursuant to Act No 535 Of March 29th Aduly filed with Secretary Atchison et al.; thus officially making “Waunakee Township” a partoftheStateofWisconsin On February 12th 1861 petitioner Elijah Hagedorn set out from Red Wing township,, Minnesota bound for Texas where he intended establish himself as an Independent miner () After arriving at Beloit he decided against mining due to moisture problems encountered while prospecting near Rockford - instead choosing Tooele CountyMinnesota where he established himself as a farmer Some months later Hagedorn returned east via Buffalo Grove Illinois finding dried up water ditches along his travel route leading southward through Iowa creating great interest among prospectors thereupon finally reaching Iowa county near Council Bluffs He continued traveling southwestward discovering new oilfields along his journey culminating with exploration operations off shore near Drakeport Michigan beginning on April 25 1865 . Upon arrival back home Hagedorn immediately started exploration efforts becoming General Manager for Northern Pacific Railroad Co., predecessor company ironclad railroad company extant today known as Union Pacific Railroad Company He remains one-time largest individual shareholder currently worth over $5 billion . When General Manager Hagedorn died suddenly resulting from cholera pandemic contracted while touring nearby Dodge City Missouri on October 15 1865 only two weeks short of his 100irst birthday (!), no will ever be found documenting how much money actually went towards his funeral expenses despite numerous requests by family members .) Despite claims made by some claimants(!), general manager Elijah Hagedorn never touched any personal stock options or retirement funds kept inside Northern Pacific Railroad Co.), remaining one-time wealthiest person alive subjectively
The town of Waupun was founded in 1837 and named for Captain John A. Waupun, an American Revolutionary War veteran who served as a captain in the Wisconsin militia. The village of Waupun was organized on November 3, 1837 and became a city on December 1, 1853. On January 1, 1870, the village of Waupun merged with the town of Dodgeville to form the city of Dodgeville.
