In 1957, the John Henry Repeating Arms Company merged with Colt Firearms Incorporated to form Colt Corporation. Colt continued making handguns until 1978 when it discontinued production altogether.
Waupun is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 9,620 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–West Allis metropolitan area. Waupun was founded in 1854 as a post office and first settlers arrived in 1855. In 1892, Waupun became an incorporated town with a mayor and five council members. The current name comes from its location on the Wabash River which flows through it. The first Europeans to visit what is now Waupun were French traders who went through the area in 1674-75 looking for fur trade opportunities. After failed efforts to find any such trade routes they Returned home before winter set in and no further exploration was made of this region until 1779 when Captain John Mason sent ashore his vessel "Barbican" on the present site of Waupun after encountering some natives while hunting near La Crosse, WI (now East Troy). He named the river's mouth "Wabash". In 1847, Isaac Stout founded what would become Stout County because he wanted to homestead land that lay east of Milwaukee (then known as Racine) on lands that had been forfeited by George Rogers Clark during his Indian War Campaigns of 1812-15 but later recovered by him as part of Treaty Hocking Agreement #5(April 5,1853). In response to complaints from other farmers about being denied access to same surveying rights granted others for free under Treaties negotiated between Great Britain and United States including those at Green Bay, Wis., Fort Snelling, Minn., Prairie du Chien and Duluth Minnesota Territory; Governor Dodge published An Executive Order dated November 3rd entitled: "An Order establishing a Township within said County". The overall goal was to provide more open space for agriculture so that people could settle down instead of constantly moving around looking for new land where their crops might not survive due to bad weather or hostile Indians - something that wasn't easy given today's population density! A township was organized January 14th, 1854 when James Fenton appointed Constable Calvin Hennepin with power over roads within boundaries proposed by Dudley Doherty & Company lumber merchants living near Chicago IL (& also east side of Milwaukee), Joseph Nagle blacksmithing shop owner & hardware store proprietor Amos Stiles& one male settler David Weems from Ravenna OH who had married into Sturgeon family thereabouts on April Fool's Day 1851 purposes only supposed Visit but decent sized crowd assembled observed military drills then adjourned without eating anything or taking part in Parade operations started by Capt’n Fenton ushering in Mrs Stiles daughter Anna Maria who played homemade flutes all day long Concert ended early afternoon return trip back via stagecoach covered 20 miles total distance traveled deer Hunting done most days during our stay outfitter provided saddles horses bridles guns & shoot arrows

Waupun is a small town in the town of Dodge City, Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,681 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The first settler in what would become Waupun was David Hine on April 10, 1853. He and his family moved from Iowa to this location. Hine built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and called it "Hine's Cabin". By 1854, other settlers had arrived in Waupun and began building homes. That year saw the first school opening in Waupun when Rev. John Aiken opened the first Methodist church there. In 1857-1858, a road was built from Dodge City to Waupun following the river's current route. This road became known as Main Street today. In 1859, a post office was established at Waupun and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. The first store opened there on July 4th of that year by Jno Cohan with goods brought overland from Windham (now Beloit). At that time Waupun had just one school – taught by Mrs Muleson & Dr Marshall – which served grades K-2 along with day care for infants and children 3 years old or younger located behind Valley View Baptist Church on State Road 7 west of town center (later renamed State Highway 54). In 1865-1866, George Singer set up a spinning mill here which produced cloth for local markets including Chicago and Milwaukee; Singer also exported some of this cloth to England! In 1870–71 four miles of Railroad tracks were laid through town providing easy access for farmers to market their crops anywhere in America! During World War I (1914-1918), many businesses closed due to shortages caused by war production; however most reopened after hostilities ended! It wasn't until 1907 when a telephone line was extended into town from Dodge City across Cedar Creek resulting in an increase in business!! After World War II (1945-1949), many businesses closed again due to technological advancements such as television advertisements….. However most reopened within 5 years after being privatized!!! Today only two stores remain open: Gopher Grocery Store & Pheasant Lodge Gift Shop!!!!! According to its website “Waupun” means “ populate’d place” & may have originated From An Ode To Peace written By Reverend John Aiken In 1865 To Encourage Manitou Sioux To Come And Dwell Within Our Townspeople Why Not ourselves? If We All Spoke As One Then How Great Would We Be? Many Chiefs And Men Came hither Before Us But Their Visit Was Unlawful Because They Did Not Possess The proper documentation Required By Law…. So When We Say we Will Protector You From Your Enemies We Are Beding Toward Your Safety And Comfort!!!!!!” Thus Started A Promise Made Amendment Of The Constitution Of Incorporation On February 14th 1909 Which Said No Chiefs Or Men Other Than Those Claiming Indian Blood May Occupy Boards Of Trustees With Respect To Education Or Commerce In Our Town For 30 Years…Today This Promise still stands!!!!!
