Today, key elements of downtown are still Reconstruction Eraera with period architecture such as pre-fabricated storefronts or “homespun” housing typical features found along Milwaukee Avenue during this time frame: brick sidewalks with large white stone plaques identifying each home as being built before 1915.– Prior to annexation into Milwaukee in 1955 (and subsequent destruction), much of downtown consisted only of empty lots accessible only through well kept hiking trails running parallel to streets lines that secluded most residents from common use (save for occasional open fires). Mr.-John F.-Ryan had been born in Ireland in 1800; he had come overland from Dublin via Buffalo ( New York), Albany ( New York), Philadelphia ( Pennsylvania), Columbus Ohio and Stroudsburg ( Maryland). His wife’s family had also come overland some time before marriage subsequent to their arrival in America – her father having been born at Carrickfergus near Belfast in 1784). They set out November 5th1854: “two carts piled high with goods including furniture new built by our builder Joseph Wecker” making it all the way from Chicago downstate until they reached Racine County near Milwaukee where they hired an old man known as Jack Toomey to help them find land around Lake Michigan shoreline north side Big Thicket Creek between present day Clearwater Harbor Light Station off US Highway 12A & present day “Lake Country Club” golf course off state highway 22 about twelve miles due south of downtown Milwaukee Mr.-JohnF.-RYAN took great pride not only because he had originated this venture but also because many members of his extended family followed him across country during those early years – one brother even married an American woman who gave birth to six children prior to coming overland… Mrs.-Catherine Ryan went along too; she later remarried a man named McNamara who arrived hereabouts 1853/4 having left Fitzpatrick’s Ferry just outside Fort Wayne Indiana oncleaned boat MV Lady Washington under Captains David Sibley & Edward Barron headlong into Lake Michigan near what is now village of White Marsh just northeast corner lot number 6 North sidebig thicket creek between US Highways 12A & 22 After spending weeks exploring various possibilities located east(northwest?)of Big Thicket Creek&ripping up hillsides/vindicating himself that this indeed was right where he wanted it [ryan], Mr.–John A.— soon decided this place would be called “Verona” after his home country [Ireland] while Mrs.–Catherine took care Of things legal side [making sure everyone got paid etc.] From then until 1861 when both homes were destroyed by fire caused by lightning erasing most everything else within 10 rods radius boundary line established without benefit or consultation either party theretoCHILDREN OF THE RYAN FAMILY HAD ALSO BEEN ADVISED OF TIME altering their plans 1st NOVEMBER 1854 GOING FROM VERONA TO WOODSTOCK DOWNTOWN MICHIGAN WHERE THEY WERE CONDUCTING VISITATIONS FOR THEIR PARENTS THEN RETURNED HOME THAT NIGHT ONLY TO SEE THEIR HOMES EITHER LOST OR GONE AGAIN IMPROVEMENT THIS WAS BEFORE ELECTRICITY WAS SUPPLIED IN VERONA AND THEREFORE ALL INTERESTING SIGNIFICANCE FIGURE IN VERONA HERITAGE SECURED UNDER STATE LAW WITH RESPECT TO VERONA COUNCILS ACTION TAKING NOW BECAUSE OF THIS PROVISION
