In the early 1800s, Verona was a small town in Wisconsin. It was known for its dairy production and gun-targeting industry. Gun owners would go to factories in nearby Milwaukee to get their target rifles and ammo. Gun Targets first appeared on American Targets circa 1892, according to a source from that era. That company made rifle targets with an illuminated crosshair. By 1888, American Targets had started manufacturing pistol targets as well. By 1896, all three companies were merged into one company - American Target Corp.. The first handguns were designed using modern military specifications and were chambered for rimfire cartridges which required different types of target sights than those used with rifles at that time (e.g., open sights). It is located on the east side of Milwaukee and is bordered by Wauwatosa to the north, Racine to the east, Ashwaubenon to the south, and Vernon to the west. The village of Verona was platted in 1848 by John Adams and his brother James. It was named after Italy’s city of Verona. In 1861, Captain George Haggerty donated land for a public school in Verona. The first school building was completed in 1865 and served as an elementary school until 1940 when it became a high school. In 1955, President Dwight D Eisenhower attended a dinner at which Verona residents presented him with a gift of two shotguns from their father-in-law, General Electric Chairman David Sarnoff. Wisconsin's wooden plank bridge that spans Menomonee River overriver from Verona to Wauwatosa opened on October 15th 1902 (the date now celebrated as Wisconsin's Railroad Heritage Day). At that time it was one of just four bridges across Menomonee River within ten miles of Milwaukee; all others were either toll bridges or steel trusses built later by industrial companies such as Knoppers Bridge Co., Miller Bridge Co., etc.. That same year saw also construction of what would become one of Wisconsin's most distinctive landmarks: The State Capitol Building (later known as The State House), located near where today’s University campus stands On December 6th 1912 Governor Anselmus Jablonski dedicated this new state capital while standing on top of newly constructed County Courthouse Annex Building which had been funded by Chautauqua Lake Company president Abram Parekh For many years thereafter both buildings were used interchangeably as county courthouse/state Capitol Complex until they were both torn down in 1985 due to increasing costs associated with maintaining them . One reason for this change may have been an effort by then-Governor Julius Edgar Stoecker (D) to emphasize local government rather than Unicam Corporation's efforts to promote statewide progressivism through its state Capitol complex design philosophy . After all, Stoecker felt that local governments could more effectively serve their citizens without expensive central office support ..
