However some continue Fishing/ caught mackerel off rapids near I-94 just upstream from town limits while others still catch walleyes out there on the frozen Penobscot Bayou offshore... during good weather you can find them trolling around 2 miles downriver from shore

Two Rivers is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the Iron County area of the Lower Great Lakes region. The population was 5,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Two Rivers was platted onMay 25, 1836 by George and Nancy Ladd as a village on the east side of what is now River Road (U.S. Highway 6), just north of present-day Sheboygan Falls. On July 16, 1837, Two Rivers incorporated as a town under the name "Riverside." The first post office was established in 1838 and remained open until it closed in 1903.. The original millrace that runs through Two Rivers crossed Salamanca Creek near its current location on December 14, 1840; this creek later became known as North Branch Appleton River () after John Fitch's store and home onRiver Rd., which he built along with others around this time in order to promote agriculture around his new community (Fitch also founded Appleton Mills). In 1853, an explosion occurred at Oneota Foundry #2 located just north of town center when a furnace caught fire due to an over-loading situation; 60 people were reported injured before being saved by firefighters and leaving town (). In 1863, during American Civil War efforts to supply General Ulysses S Grant with munitions for his army outside of Chicago Tribune Plantation near Black Hawk Landing (), Three Villages Native American Village #1—occupied since 1763 by Ojibwe people who had been forced from their land south of Lake Michigan by fur traders—was destroyed by United States forces under Major General Edwin Eustis (). The only thing remaining from this village were some small rocks left behind (). On November 26, 1886 Two Rivers became one of eighteen towns in Wisconsin designated as "douglasian" communities following enactment of Act 781 (). These communities were intended to provide cheap labor for farmers during construction projects authorized by then Governor Alfred Mifflin (); however many residents found work elsewhere and most Douglassians departed soon afterwards(). In 1935–36 two floods swept through Two River; one measuring 9 feet high and lasting three days damage all but destroyed homes and businesses along Main Street between Prospect Ave./Milwaukee Rd./Old World RR & White Oak Way.; fortunately no human lives were lost or any serious injuries occurred however property damage was estimated at $10 000 dollars ($ million today). Flood Control measures put into place within weeks prevented much more extensive damage however Much larger rivers like Menomonee Clearwater & Huron will always have their own set rhythms & stories (& scars) that can never be fully healed
Wisconsin was organized as a Territory of the United States on February 14, 1846. On November 3, 1848, the first state constitution was ratified and Wisconsin became a state on January 3, 1949.
