The village was founded by German immigrants in 1854 and named after two nearby rivers: "Racine" because it drained into a swamp near the settlement, and "Two Ridges" because of its high hills that overlooked both rivers. The name had been used before for a small community on the west side of Silesia Bayou in Stuyvesant Township since 1824, but it was not until Two Rivers became an incorporated village in 1855 that it acquired its current nameakes from these two rivers. The first store opened in 1856 and post office began operations on November 15, 1860. By 1870, there were fifteen businesses in Two Rivers with a population of 533 residents; three churches served as social services; one school operated; and four gristmills supplied flour to local residents for their bread and butter needs. In 1914, Oneida Manufacturing Company moved from Racine to Two Rivers followed by American Mfg Co., which produced radios and other electronic equipment from 1933 to 1951 (two years after Radio Corporation of America's establishment). In 1957 another electronics company fled US antitrust scrutiny by moving to Three Rivers—the final move before Wisconsin's joining Interstate 94 made those companies international players with plants scattered around North America. In 1865, Three RiversNormal School opened as a coeducational institution which later became known as river high school (now River View High School). In 1902-1903, two additions were made to the original Normal School building - one for girls and one for boys - creating what is now River View Middle School and River View High School respectively. On October 20th 1912 Two Rivers celebrated its centennial with a parade through downtown streets ending at the old Normal School building where they had picnic lunch that day! A new high school site (later known as South High) was developed east of town on Highway 73 between 1951-1955 when Iron Mountain Railway construction cut off access to nearby towns for many years; this led to commuter students living near Two Rivers instead of attending class downtown or going downriver to Iron Mountain village where classes were held until 1975 when South High attendance surpassed that of North High making it possible for Oneida Valley Community College (now Mohawk Valley Community College) to offer evening classes there from 1978 until 1984 when both schools closed their doors due to budget constraints; this left only rural Oneida Valley Community College teaching classes out of town residents until satellite campuses began opening up elsewhere including Menominee Falls Academy which opened its doors on September 1st 2006 finally bringing end to transportation distance betweenangegradeable community college's four campuses: Oneida Valley Community College-Livonia Campus; New Hope Christian Academy-Niles Campus; Savoy Heights Charter/Good Shepherd Academies—Norris Campus; Racine Area Technical & Vocational Institute—Racine Campus which brought all types of technical/vocational education within easy reach of those seeking them without leaving their homes! Many development projects took place during these years such as the erection of several bridges over rivers including: the Red Wing Dam Bridge completed November 3rd 1937 connecting Red Wing with 2 other villages along 2 miles long sectional road bridge also being constructed just north of town carrying US 90 across said river named after General George Armstrong Custer who fought against Indian warfare under President Ulysses S Grant during World War I before dying from his wounds Fast Ferry Landing Bridge also completed December 5th 1941 connecting Ford City with White Sands Arsenal Gunnery Range 4 miles south #oneontaand2nd Ward communities via state highway(now US 11) Redwing Dam Bridge also completed December 3rd 1937 connecting Red Wing with 3 other villages along Irene Lake named after Battle Creek Chief Black Hawk – this bridge replaced an earlier Marshall County bridge destroyed by a tornado March 25th 1935
