Two Rivers is a small town in the Wisconsin region of the United States. The population was 2,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Janesville, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was named for both two rivers that pass through it: the Black River and the White River. The Black River flows east-northeast to meet Lake Michigan just outside of town; while the White River flows west-southwest to join Lake Michigan just outside of town. It was first settled by German immigrants in 1837, and then by Americans in 1848. Two Rivers was a post office from 1855 until 1907. In 1930, it became a manufacturing village with over 100 businesses employing 1,100 people. By 2000, however, most manufacturing had stopped and only 10 businesses still employed up to 500 people. In recent years there has been some renewed interest in Manufacturing here as new companies have moved intotown such as Apple Inc., Amazon Web Services and Facebook Inc.. In addition to its namesake rivers, Two Rivers also boasts many other attractions including an ice cream store known as "The Dairy" (now closed), a movie theater known as "The Majestic" (closed), a bowling alley known as "The Lanes", an outdoor pool known as "Lakeview Park" (closed), and several golf courses including one within easy walking distance of town center complete with practice facilities for local golfers and carts for taking visitors on rounds around town. There are also several restaurants scattered throughout downtown that offer various meals or snacks before/after going out to see some sights or play tennis or basketball on one or more well-manicured greens located right near downtown streetscape locations like Main Street restaurant stops along Shopping Center Dr., North Capitol Avenue stop near Waterfront Place video game area between First National Bank & Capital One bank building - perfect place to watch a movie or take your dog for a walk!

Two Rivers, Wisconsin is located in the United States of America and was first settled by European Americans in the late 17th century. The town is named for the two adjacent streams that formed its boundaries- the Allyn River to the east and Mifflin Creek to the west. The first settler in Two Rivers was Nicholas Astor, who arrived there in 1693. By 1800, Two Rivers had a population of about 350 people. It continued to grow rapidly through the 19th century, reaching a peak of 2,000 residents by 1892. However, during this time period economic hard times caused many businesses and homes to close or be taken over by other entrepreneurs. In addition, social unrest led to several uprisings against landowners throughout the region during this time period. Despite these challenges, however, Two Rivers steadily grew into an important community over the years and remains one of its most vibrant neighborhoods today. The Town of Two Rivers was organized on December 3rd, 1837 from portions of Greenfield Township and Crawford County. At that time it included a population of only 179 people living on land owned by David Wohlgemuth Sr., John Aiken & Co., George Pappas & Co., Jacob Kapp & Co., Solomon Weiser (& others). On January 1st, 1840 (27 years after organization), following passage of Act 3790 which designated all townships within Crawford County as “townships” with full power to sue inhabitants thereof for all injuries whatsoever (except small errors) they might sustain therein; also providing for layering off such township precincts into separate villages or wards; this act being accompassed with proclamation by Govt.*fn1 In compliance therewith David Wohlgemuth resigned his interest therein*, [*Gov't proclamation dated January 1st 1840]&David Matthews became Assessor*.fn2 From 1840 until 1870 when Adams Municipal School District No 2 was established Oneida County did not annex any additional townships/villages until 1872 when New London annexed Prairie du Chien*fn3 *See "Adams Municipal School District No 2" below for more detail on this history
Two Rivers was founded by the Wisconsin River in 1846. The town grew up around the river and its natural resources, such as lumber and coal. Two Rivers became a major transportation center after it opened up land to railroads in the early 20th century.
