Shooting has been a part of Sussex, Wisconsin for over 100 years. The first gunsmith in the town, James Broughton, made firearms in 1847. Sussex, Wisconsin (population: 7,621) is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 6,815 at the 2010 census. Sussex is part of the Racine-Menomonee Falls, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sussex is located on Iron Range Boulevard and has a small shopping center and two elementary schools as well as a high school which serves students from grades 9-12. The town also has a library which opened in 2009. The first settler in Sussex was James Crouse who arrived in 1837 with his family from New York City. He founded the community of Sussex on land that he purchased from the Winnebago Tribe of Indians near present day Menomonee Falls. In 1847, John Fenton bought 300 acres adjacent to present day Sussex and developed it into what became known as "Fenton's Prairie". On July 1, 1852, Fenton donated an additional 600 acres to the town for use as a public square & parkland called "Fenton Park". Sussex post office began operations on December 3, 1857 and continued operation until it closed on October 25, 1907. It reopened on January 8th under the name "Sussex Post Office" again until it closed its doors for good in 1945 due to budget cuts by then USPostmaster General Harry S Truman Jr.. In 1943 local businessmen Denny Kaufmann and Don Leichter formed what would become known as Kaufmann Companies Incorporated (KCI) - one of few businesses organized by businesspeople during World War II to remain active after hostilities ended. KCI operated local stores including those in Sussex while also manufacturing munitions at its factory located just outside town limits on Deerfield Road between Kiln Road & Deerfield Lake Drive today still operative under its original name - KAUFFMAN INDUSTRIES INCORPORATED (KAI). After war ended there were many changes taking place within postwar America including suburbanization which led to suburban growth around towns such as Menomonee Falls with similar patterns emerging throughout rural America; however this did not happen with downtown menomonee falls staying primarily industrial/commercial with only limited development over time leading to increased traffic demands on Iron Range Boulevard (& concurrent loss of available open space), leading to closure of most retail establishments along that corridor& eventual replacement/renovation/ enlargement of existing facilities along current State Route 2nd Street providing much needed expanded Adult Gambling Business District access west side Racine County when that roadway was widened following construction of I-94&& associated rail lines&& now operates both commercial enterprises - WILSON'S GAS STATION WWW.(RACINE)AND provides employment opportunities for more than 60+ individuals employed full or parttime across many diverse facets including environmental restoration work done at nearby former Kernstown Mines&& currently operate four gas stations across western WI - SATURN MOTORS LLC., CHEVY HOUSE ENTERPRISES PCL., AND KENWOOD AUTO PARTS INCorporating their own dealership complex inside Kenwood Mall named after their founderKenwood Auto Parts being one among several notable auto dealerships operating within urban areas following WWII && presently have over 100 employees nationally plus 2 sales plants located outside Chicago metropolitan area
There are many different types of shooting ear protection products on the market today. Sussex, Wisconsin was first settled in 1836 by the Danish immigrants and their families. The town of Sussex was named after the Susquehanna River which flows through the town. The first school in Sussex was built in 1840. In 1851, the town became a city and was renamed Sussex, Wisconsin. The population of Sussex increased to over 1,000 in 1860 and it reached its peak as an agricultural center during the early 19th century. However, during the late 19th century and into the 20th century, Sussex experienced a decline due to factors such as population loss, economic decline, and natural disasters. However, recent growth has restored Jackeye Dam on the Susquehanna River as a popular tourist spot while also creating new opportunities for business development in Sussex.
On July 1, 1836, the town of Sussex was organized as a village by the Board of Trade. The first settler in Sussex was John Purdy. In 1857, the village had a population of eighty-two people. On November 15, 1867, the village passed an ordinance creating a school district and setting aside land for that purpose. The first township was organized on December 6, 1867 and included part of what is now Sussex. On March 3, 1889 the Township became a County when it was divided into two counties - Dodge County and Milwaukee County.
