Sussex, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Sussex County. It is located in the Driftless Area of eastern Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Michigan about 20 miles (32 km) east of Green Bay. The population was 7,914 at the 2010 census. The first settler in what is now Sussex County was Samuel Hennepin in 1836. The name "Sussex" originated with John Susman, who named a marsh near present-day New Brighton after his home county of Sussex, England. Swedish immigrants also settled here early in America. Named for General Edmund Pendletonusky, who led American troops during the War of 1812 and later served as United States Senator from Ohio, Sussex became part of the United States when it was admitted to Union on November 3, 1791. The first post office in Sussex opened in 1837; its name was changed to Green Bay in 1857 because it lay within then- existing Fox River Territory limits that had been ceded to Canada by President James Kappan on December 12th that year as part of his Indian removal policy known as the Reservation Act! In 1865, green beans were introduced into this area by Danish immigrants Nils Jensen and Ole Pedersen and quickly spread throughout most of America due to their good flavor and low price

Sussex, Wisconsin is a small town in the northwest corner of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. The population was 5,869 at the 2010 census. Sussex was platted in 1852 and named for HMS Sussex, an English ship captained by Commodore John Stark. The town quickly became a center for agriculture, with farmers producing eggs and milk, as well as cotton and hay. In the early years of the 20th century, Sussex developed into a bedroom community for more populous Milwaukee County. However, over time its agricultural economy shifted to tourism and other sectors of the non-manufacturing economy; today's residents are largely self-employed or employed in service businesses such as dentists and veterinarians. The town has experienced some growth in recent decades: In 2000 it had 1,400 residents; by 2010 that number hadgrown to 3,800. Many of these new residents have moved in from adjacent towns which have seen declines in their populations since 2000. As part of this trend, many local businesses have closed or relocated due to dwindling business opportunities or changes within the local government itself - including several schools which have closed entirely since 2009 after state budget cuts caused them to lose money). On November 6th 1888 six men led by Reverend Arthur Waugh set out from Sussex on foot through difficult terrain to found what would become Racine County Wisconsin Some 10 miles further they met another group making their way eastward also on foot but without success On January 5th 1889 three groups totaling 16 men left from Sussex with Captains Cook (a whaling captain) & Kendall enroute unknown waters off cape Cod US #9 They did not return either day
