Superior is a village in the town of Superior, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. The first settlers in Superior were two families from New York City who came overland in 1836 and started a farm on what is now the east side of Superior Avenue. They named their farm "Superior" after their native city of Syracuse, New York. In 1849, Isaac Manning founded what is now the Milwaukee Road company's headquarters in Superior and moved his family to that location. The company built a large depot on State Street near present-day Robinson Place, which became known as Superior Depot. By 1865, when railway pioneer George Stephenson built the first section of the Milwaukee–Waukesha Railroad between Waukesha and Menomonee Falls, Superior had become one of itsettlement areas. In 1872, local businessmen organized a school district and began teaching students in homes until new school buildings could be constructed. That same year saw another important milestone for Superior: it became one of only six villages in Wisconsin to receive electric light by way of an underground wire from Menomonee Falls to Racine (the other five were Ironwood Heights, Kenosha County; Stevens Point; Mukwonago; Janesville) In 1904 – just four years after electricity reached all villages via overhead wire – Consolidated Coal Company started operations at present-day Robinson Place with an installed capacity totaling 614 horsepower (300 kW). This major development led to increased economic activity and more people moving into rural communities across Wisconsin during this period – making Superior one of America’s most rapidly growingvillages during this time period! On July 10th 1907 Union Carbide & Electric Company opened its doors at present day Hometown Avenue/Robinson Place following many years of planning by community leaders including Mayor Myron Hechtman and Supervisor Julius Kappelman This important facility helped spur economic growth throughout northwestern WI as Union Carbide expand production for products like plastics and tires while also providing much-needed employment opportunities for locals . It was through this initiative that many residents acquired familiarity with modern technology which would later lead to significant advancements within our economy such as the creationof Alcoa Aluminum& Steel Works hereabouts
In 1846, the first white settlers in Superior arrived and began to build a cabin. They were the Hennepin brothers, and they started the town in what is now the city of Milwaukee. In 1857, Wisconsin became a state, and Superior was chosen as its constitutionality capital. The city continued to grow because of its location at the crossroads of several important trails that connected Chicago with points south. By 1930, Superior had a population of over 50,000 people.
