The first post office in Suamico was established in 1851. In 1865, the Suamico Railroad became operational. This railroad connectedSuamico with nearby Racine and Milwaukee via a series of bridges. The railroad left Suamico in 1968, and its tracks were abandoned in 1978. In 1980, the town of Black Hawk formed from parts of Suamico and Racine County. Black Hawk is located about northeast of Milwaukee on the eastern border of Racine County.
