Suamico is a town in the town of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,583 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Suamico was Abram J. Beal who arrived in 1836. He and his family erected a log cabin on the east side of present-day North Main Street. Beal also founded a school in Suamico which operated from 1838 to 1840. In 1847, Hiram Priest bought land inSuamico for $4 per acre (now $ ). Priest built the first house on what is now First Avenue and State Street and started farming there. In 1850 he sold his farm to John Ladd for $8 per acre (now $ ). Ladd built a gristmill thereon and began grinding corn into flour which he shipped to Chicago for market. Ladd's mill was replaced by the current one at 801 N Capitol Drive in 1908 after it caught fire; it still stands today as one of Milwaukee's most iconic landmarks. The flour milling industry declined thereafter but SUAMICO continued to produce its own local cheese until 1984 when that process switched to milk production statewide due to an economic slump throughout America affecting farmers unable to compete with imports subsidized through tariffs brought about by President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal policies.). In 1916, village trustees named James Kappenberger their first mayor because he had been elected treasurer of Racine County two years earlier; Kappenberg served until his death in 1924). After serving as mayor for only two months, Kappenberg was succeeded by George Ellermeier who served until 1928 when he became supervisor of Racine County Schools (). during World War II, many residents worked at General Electric plants located throughout Wisconsin munitions manufacturing areas like Waukesha and Sheboygan where they produced tools, devices and parts used in war such as tanks and bombers; these jobs often required long hours away from home life which some families were able to manage while others chose not to return home during wartime shortages caused by rationing programs run by American governments

The first settler arrived on July 4th and named their new community after Mount Stroud which they had seen on their walk from Milwaukee to their new farmstead. At first the settlers did not have much success farming because they did not have any other resources available to them aside from some wildflowers that they collected seasonally. However, over time they found ways to make use of what they had and eventually began producing crops such as wheat and potatoes. In addition to agriculture,the early settlers also started trading with other parts of Wisconsin and Illinois for goods like deer meat and flour before moving onto larger farms near present-day Waukesha County when demand increased for those items outside of Wisconsin at this time. Eventually various stores were built within the limits of current Suamico where people could purchase goods like cheese or eggs from local farmers while also enjoying a range of services like plumbing Repairman or carpenter/repairman
On September 25, 1854, the first post office in Suamico was opened. The town was named for John A. Suamico, a settler who arrived in the area in 1847. The first store was built on Main Street in 1855. In 1861, a school was founded and remained in operation until it closed in 1945. The first home to be built in Suamico was on West Broadway between Main and Superior Streets.
