Stevens Point is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 22,868 at the 2010 census and has grown to over 50,000 since then. Stevens Point has been an important center for optical products production for many years, and today there are several large optical companies headquartered in the city. Many of these companies have made significant contributions to the local economy and community, including Schneider Electric and Intel. The first permanent optics factory in Stevens Point was built by John Atwood in 1871. Atwood's factory produced corrective lenses for surveying equipment and other scientific instruments. In 1875, German immigrant Wilhelm Kapp started a company that manufactured telescopes and other Optical Products using his own resources - early Stevens Point residents were some of the most knowledgeable about optics at the time. In 1903, two brothers named Julius and Rudolph Wohl founded their own company manufacturing corrective lenses called "Wohl & Sons." This company became one of the largest producers of corrective lenses in America before it went bankrupt in 1907. However, this did not stop Julius Wohl from continuing to produce high-quality optic products until his death in 1925; his son Rudolph took over operations until he too passed away in 1959. In 1929, two brothers named Harry Covington and William Hutton founded their own company producing reflex sunglasses with a design by Driscoll which was patented on July 5th 1930 (U2 3362). The pair continued production until their deaths in 1966 and 1971 respectively; Harry Covington bequeathed his business to his nephew David Covington who operated it as part of American Heritage Optical Corporation until its acquisition by Lumentum Optics Incorporated on August 1st 2003 . This marks Lumentum's first foray into optical product production outside North America; prior to that they had only exported surplus eye glass from China . It should be noted that both Harry Covington (inventor)and William Hutton (manufacturer)were natives of Scotland but moved to America when they were employed by their Scottish relatives during World War I

This was an incredible development because it allowed scientists to study objects further away from Earth and help us understand nature better! Following World War II, optical technology advanced rapidly thanks in part to advances in electronic components and circuitry. During this time there also came about some amazing advancements in optics such as image stabilization through computer processing power; ultraviolet light detection; digital photography; holography; 3D printing; solid state lighting etc…ICC members continued making important contributions until recently including Winstor (now Renesas), Cree (acquired by Philips Semiconductors) et al who continue developing 5Gbps switch-mode lasers for next-generation communications systems
