On October 29, 1892, a group of men from South Milwaukee formed the "Pack Shooting Club" to shoot at game targets in the city. The club held its first meeting at the Northwestern Mutual Insurance building. In 1902, the club moved to the old Chicago & Duluth Railroad Depot on Long Island Avenue and continued to hold meetings there. In 1912, it changed its name to "South Milwaukee Rifle Association" and moved again - this time to Webster Hall on east Washington Street in South Milwaukee. The association started using pistols instead of rifles in 1923. It disbanded in 1926 because of lack of members. In 1946, a new Pistol shooting society was organized in South Milwaukee by local citizens Bill Doherty and his father-in-law Don Kappelman with assistance from state member Bob Laughery of Waukesha County (the then rural county seat). The new society still uses pistols today as its main form of shooting sports activity.
South Milwaukee is a city in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 22,362 at the 2010 census. It is the county's second-largest city afterMilwaukee. The first settlers in what is now South Milwaukee were people of Danish and Swedish descent who arrived around 1836. The area that now includes South Milwaukee was part of the Galena Heights Township on the east side of Milwaukee County before it was annexed by the city of Milwaukee in 1903. In 1886, a group of men from West Allis organized as a town charter organization called "Neenah" and built their own courthouse and jail in what is now blocks 1-3 of North State Street in what is now known as Neenah Park. They also developed land northeast of present-day South Milwaukee on Lake Michigan for housing and commercial development. The opening day for businesses seeking to open within the new town was July 5, 1886; however, only two stores opened that day because there were no buildings or streets available yet. In 1889, Neenah petitioned for incorporation as a city but did not receive enough signatures to make it an official request so she instead became known as "Neenah City". A meeting was held on October 20th which resulted in the adoption of an ordinance by the City Council granting full municipal power to Neenah City with six members instead of three members required under state law at that time. On November 3rd 1888, Mayor Otto Jahn led an effort to have “Neenah” renamed “Southmilw[e]k” due to its location between West Allis and Racine on Lake Michigan shoreline – thus becoming one step closer towards achieving collective Municipal status with all residents living within walking distance of each other rather than having to go out into open space beyond our borders! It wasn’t until 1893 when Southmilw[e]k achieved Municipal status when Mayor John Wadleigh submitted legislation creating aldermen who would represent specific wards within their municipality limits without regard to race or social class (or lack thereof). This system remains today with current mayor Tom Barrett serving his fourth term starting January 1st 2019! south milw[e]k also has some interesting names like “Milwaukee Point” & “Lakeview Square”

The area was part of the Fox River valley until it was sold to the United States government in 1836 as part of the Louisiana Purchase. The town of South Milwaukee was founded in 1847, and grew slowly until it became a major city in the late 19th century. In 1927, South Milwaukee joined the city of Milwaukee, and today is one of its most important suburbs.
