The club folded in 1903 but resumed publication a year later. In 1907, the Shorewood Rifle and Pistol Club founded its own magazine which continued publication until 1912 when it merged with the Grosse Pointe Republican Rifle and Pistol Club to form the present-day Shorewood Gun Club. The first issue of the present-day Shorewood Gun Club's "Shorewood Herald" was published on October 17, 1916. Publication of the "Herald" began as a three-monthly journal with an circulation of 10 copies per issue. From 1916 to 1922, the "Herald" was published by Wm Hadden & Sons Printing Company. The paper changed hands several times before being purchased by PrenticeRandolph Publishing Company in 1926 and continuing as a monthly journal until 1984 when it was discontinued due to financial constraints. In 1936, Nils Jorgensen founded Jorgensen Publications which published both magazines along with books, calendars and other merchandise. In 1949, Jorgensen Publications merged with William Morris Associates to become one of America's leading publishing companies. Under this new ownership, publications such as "Shorewood Herald", "Grosse Pointe Republican Rifle & Pistol Club Journal", "PrenticeRandolph Review", and many others continued to be published until 1988 when they were all discontinued due to increasing competition from e-books and online publications

Shorewood was platted on May 10, 1855, by John P. Sheboygan and J.C. Richardson. The town name honors Commodore George Washington's disembarkation at Fort Dearborn on October 17, 1800, during the War of 1812. The first permanent settler in Shorewood was David Sheboygan who arrived in 1857 and built a log cabin near what is now Boulevard Street. David also contributed to the founding of local schools including one that still stands today called Sheboygan School District No 1 which opened its doors to students in September 1860 In 1861 the town passed an ordinance making it a lawless area with no governing body or sheriff and residents were required to arm themselves for self-defense if necessary In 1865 shore wood got its own post office after being annexed by La Crosse In 1870 Josephine (Doris) Ziegler moved from Chicago toshorewood with her husband Harry Ziegler and their two children. They started a general store/canned goods business called The Mother Shop which became one of Shorewood's most important assets It wasn't until 1915 when they added baking powder to their products that they began selling groceries into the community In 1920 they acquired land adjacent to their store building which would become home to their current grocery store located on North Avenue

Shorewood was founded in 1836 by John Shore and his brother-in-law David Clifton as a small village on the east side of the Fox River. It became a town in 1857 and then a city in 1959. The Fox River Bridge crosses over it just south of its downtown, which is now known as the "City Pier." The first settler in what would become Shorewood was John Shore who came overland from England in 1836. He built a log cabin near present-day Wauwatosa and named it "Shorewood." In February 1837, he married Anna Maria Hemingson and they moved to their new home, which later became known as "the City Pier." In 1860, when Milwaukee County were formed from portions of Milwaukee Township, Shorewood became part of that county too. The first courthouse for Milwaukee County was erected here in 1865 and remained until 1927. In 1892, Drs Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail donated land to build an experimental wireless station on their property near Superior Avenue and Niles Street called Western Union Station (later renamed Ziegfeld Theatre). This engineering feat made possible wirelessly transmitted messages between cities across America for the first time ever! From this location until 1912 there also sat an observation tower built by James H Nichols called "Nichols Tower". At some point during this timetower's construction someone added an extra floor making it 270 degrees so that any person or bird flying overhead could be studied! The City Pier gradually fell into disrepair due to heavy use by humans for fishing, pleasure boating, swimming/diving; however steel cables had been laid down along both banks of the river making navigation difficult if not impossible without boats being pulled up onto shore to unload or store goods etc., this caused docks on both sides of upper Fox River to slowly come down eliminating most commercial activity taking place at pier level thus further damaging infrastructure viewability dating back to early 1900s

After World War II, Shorewood experienced a decline in population due to changes in industry and economic conditions throughout the country. However, it has since regained some its former glory as a bedroom community for Milwaukee residents.
