The Richfield Armory was a firearms manufacturer located in Richfield, Wisconsin from 1873 to 1934. The company was founded by John J. Richards and his brother-in-law, Hiram S. Payne. The Richards brothers were among the earliest manufacturers of handguns in the United States and their products became well known for their quality and reliability. In 1873, John Richards leased an old sawmill on the east side of town to start making pistols and revolvers under the name "Richfield Arsenal." In 1898, they began producing rifles as well. The Richards Arms Company became one of the leading firearms producers in America during its heyday; it produced over 120 million firearm models between 1873 and 1934.
Richfield is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,531 at the 2010 census. The name derives from the French words " Richfeld ", meaning "farmstead by the river ". The first known settlers in Richfield were Dutch fur traders and missionaries who arrived in 1771. They named the village after their leader, Sir Peter Richfeldt of Rotterdam. In 1836, John Hennepin moved his family to what is now Richfield from Springdale, Minnesota; they were among the earliest farmers in that area. In 1853, a post office called Beech Grove was established in what is now Richfield and remained operational until it closed on July 10, 1960. In 1859, when Central State Normal School opened near downtownRichfield for students of central government schools in Door County,. It moved to its present site near Main Street and University Avenue in 1865. This was also when railroad construction began nearby and various businesses located along Main Street started up such as sawmills (1865), grist mills (1868), breweries (1875), feed stores (1880), carriages and wagon factories (1885-1900), etc.). By 1900 most of these businesses had either closed or been replaced by larger ones within a few years. In 1916–17 local developers John Auerbach and Harry Hennepin built what is now one of America's first large concrete blocksized housing developments - Auerbach Place - which became an internationally renowned shopping center for high-end products beginning in the early 1970s before being demolished around 2000 as part of redevelopment plans for downtown Milwaukee . A number of other major events have occurred throughout history associated with Richfield: On November 15th 1921 a tornado touched down just west of town damaging several homes but no people died; on May 16th 1944 two bombs exploded over town shortly before dawn killing three people including future Mayor Donald Cook; on December 1st 1966 local residents successfully opposed annexation by Milwaukee due to concerns about proposed freeway construction that would have disrupted public transportation; on January 3rd 1973 local residents successfully opposed annexation by Green Bay due to concerns about proposed highway construction that would have disrupted public transportation again; finally most recently on October 8th 2006 an election victory for Barack Obama made this community one of America's fastest growing minority communities

Richfield is a town in northwestern Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,574 at the 2010 census. It first appeared on maps in 1871 as part of the Town of Racine. It was named for General James A. Rich, who had been appointed by President Ulysses S. Grant to lead the Union army during the American Civil War.
