The Racine Gun Club was organized in 1892. It operated until 1916. The club used a variety of means to acquire firearms and ammunition, including purchasing them from the local rifle clubs or selling them through its own store. In 1908, the club converted an old armory into a shooting range and storage facility. The Racine Gun Club is also responsible for the creation of the Wisconsin state law that banned handguns in 1911.

Racine is a town in Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,609 at the 2010 census. It is the largest community in Racine County and one of the most populous towns in northwest Wisconsin. The Racine area has been inhabited for over 10,000 years. The first European to visit what is now Racine was Pierre Charles Laclède on his journey from Greenbay to Milwaukee in 1779. He noted that there were many villages and farms near Lake Michigan but he found no human habitation as large as that of the Potawatomi Indians off the shore of Lake Superior. This lack of knowledge about their people may have been due to Indian Removal during the 1800s which forced some tribes out of their ancestral lands and into reservations in Illinois and Minnesota. In 1825, James Bridgman built a sawmill on the north side of Fox Creek which became the first successful milltown in Northwest Wisconsin. By 1830, all but two members of Bridgman's family had died or moved away; however, his son still ran Bridgman Mill until it closed down in 1902 due to competition from new mills built around Milwaukee by George Westinghouse and other industrialists. In 1847, John Fetterling founded a station on Fox Creek which became Wausau before finally opening up for business at Racine Falls on October 15th of that year. The first train reached Racine Falls at 6 PM that night with passengers coming from Appleton and Menomonie county thermal plants eastward along US Highway 41 towards Chicago via Wausau and Allouette Falls where they changed trains at Menomonie Junction for Milwaukee just south of East High Street (now FirstEnergy Center Drive). The town site was laid out by John Doane based on surveys he took while working for surveyor David Whitcomb during 1851-1854; it was formally designated as a town by an act passed by Congress on December 1st, 1855 following territorial acquisitions made pursuant to Kansas–Nebraska Act (1854). The first election to serve as Town Board took place on January 3rd, 1857 with incumbent Joseph Deering being reelected unopposed after serving since November 25th when officeholders were chosen through direct popular vote rather than via appointment by Governor Nicholas Brownlow who favoured more northern nominees given his friendship with nearby Madison city officials Daniel Webster & Levi Le Roy Morton%. A new school building was completed across Main Street from Doane's storefront circa 1865-66 when present school board member Amos Harker donated land adjoining it fronting State Street between Third Avenue South & Fourth Avenue North (now Ulysses S Grant Boulevard) – racines main shopping street – for use as a public high school campus thereby increasing educational opportunities within town limits without having to leave entirely! A fire destroyed Doane's storefront about 1880 resulting in significant damage although left standing are several Second Empire style storefront buildings used today as residences/ businesses including: Doane House (the original structure), Gifford House (the current structure), Gifford Arms Hotel (& restaurant), Post Office Building (& post office annex), Methodist Church Building (& Methodist Church Annex), additions added since then include: Blacksmith Shop Building (&blacksmith shop annex), Creamery building (& creamery annex), Carnegie Library addition (1910s) & former home of Racine Free Radicals Nathaniel Pecora
