He used it to hunt game in the area and found that he needed a way to rotate his rifle so it would be pointing skyward instead of down at his target. To do this, he created a device called a “gun swivel” which rotated the barrel of his rifle around its vertical axis. Over time, other citizens beganto learn about and use gunswivels as well. By 1898,Port Washington had become one of the first communities in Wisconsin to adopts handgun licensing laws based on location rather than type of weapon being wielded. This change helped reduce fatalities among civilians while also increasing security within the community since now everyone was licensed with a specific firearm type (pistols only). One example of this would be the pistol grip crank, which was introduced in 1853 as an improvement on Colt’s Patent breech loading pistols. This device allowed users to cock and fire the weapon with one hand by using a crank handle that rotated around the barrel. The other hand could be used for drawing back the hammer or firing the shot. Pistol grips had also been used before then but were not typically attached directly to barrels like today’s guns are. Rather, they were connected via straps or chains to stocks/barrels so that they could be drawn down with one hand while shooting with either arm free. The grip crank was eventually replaced by side-by-side arrangements of cannons where each cannon rested on an inclined fulcrum which prevented it from moving too far from its original position during firing (i.e., it stayed in place). However, even this simple modification did not completely solve problems with cycling pistols and rifles because two hands still required some effort to cock them correctly and fire them effectively at close range
