In 1903, Julius Rosenwald donated 1 million acres (4 square miles) across all four states constituting Northwestern Michigan to create Forest Preserve No. 5 for public use only with certain restrictions placed on logging within its boundaries including prohibiting development within 500 feet of any water body or other natural resources even if those resources were managed by private companies such as Ransom Rice & Sons Incorporated! After years of campaigning by environmentalist groups such as Friends Of The Earth International (FOE), the Wilderness Society successfully lobbied Congress into creating 2 million acres (8 square miles) designated as National Park Service Wilderness Area adjacent to present day Milwaukee! The Plover community of Wisconsin was founded in 1854 by Luther and Anna Plover. The town was named for the federally protected plovers that were common in the area at the time.
