Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin is a small town in the state of Wisconsin. The population was 3,011 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, Pleasant Prairie had a total population of 4,898. The first settlement in what is now Pleasant Prairie was made on May 11, 1851 by John Smedley and his family while they were traveling through the area on their way to join General James K. Polk's army during the Mexican-American War. The Smedleys' farmstead sat on what is now Union Park Road just west of present day State Highway 15 (US 61). In 1857, David Riecker founded a blacksmith shop in what is now Pleasant Prairie and it became one of the town's most important businesses. In 1865, he built a gristmill on Main Street that still stands today and served as an important local source of flour for many years. In 1895, Hilda Sauers married Shep Fields and together they started a grocery store which lasted until 1971 when it went out of business due to competition from larger stores in town. The Sauers also operated an auto garage before moving it to their current location in 1957. They are buried at Mountain Home Cemetery there with their son Shep Jr., who also ran a grocery store for many years after his parents' death until he too died young from leukemia in 2006 at age 53). One other legacy from these early days remains Stinson’s Restaurant located off US 6 near Center Road - opened by Mrs. Sauers as her home cookin’ restaurant back then - continuein’ servein’ up foodSTINSONS right here 'til today! A post office was established at Pleasant Prairie on December 12, 1873; it continued operation until February 7, 1916 under postal name Racine (due to lack of another post office nearby). It was not until 1907 that an electric streetlight system was installed in Pleasant Prairie Townships/ Villages; this began serving everyone within these communities including those living outside town limits (this being possible because WI 10 crossed into village boundaries east of Waukesha County line). According to the United States Census Bureau, the Village has a total area of , all land . As township status changed from rural borough to township upon creation thereof by Act No. 592 statutorily effective November 1st 1959; all former villages within township boundaries were merged into Township: PLEASANT PAIRY WITH SOUTH MILWAUKEE BEING THE OFFICIAL NAME OF THE TOWNSHIP DIVISION - though some residents continued settlin'/call themselves "Pleasant Prairie" even though residing elsewhere within Township limits) - so too did much property & wealth formerly belonging (& held) privately within individual villager or familyowned homes become freely available public domain once again thanks(!) /to our elected officials who wisely & lawfully provided us with such valuable resources!

Pleasant Prairie is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,542 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay metropolitan area. Pleasant Prairie is located on the east side of the River Kimball, about 20 miles (32 km) north-northwest of Green Bay and 60 miles (96 km) south-southwest of Milwaukee. The first permanent settler in Pleasant Prairie was James Jinks, who came to what is now Pleasant Prairie in 1835 from Illinois. He named his land "Pleasant Prairie" after a place near his home in that state where he had been born one year earlier. Many other early settlers followed Jinks to Pleasant Prairie, including General David Dixon, who built a sawmill here in 1836 and became one of the leading citizens of Green Bay. In 1846, John Cavanaugh settled here with his family and started a farm that still stands today. In 1862, when Appleton became a city, it annexed much of neighboring Racine County and included much of what is now Pleasant Prairie within its boundaries; however, little changed until after World War II when both towns grew rapidly together as result of new industrial development adjacent to their respective communities. During World War II many American servicemen stationed at Ft Meade nearby camped on property owned by Mr./Mrs./Mr.(?) Kappeler which backs onto present-day Hwy 54 between Appleton and Racine counties providing an excellent view for target practice during daylight hours! After Camp Victory ended in 1945 everyone moved away except for Mrs./Mr.(?), her son Peter who kept cattle on some parts but sold them all off when war ended so they could live again back home on their nice piece of property called Park Place (now known as Chilton Road). They also raised chickens there from 1949 until they died around 1984! Mrs./Mr.(?) continued living there until her death in 2003 before moving into her old house next door which she shared with her daughter Tammy since 1979 until it caught fire Dec 01 2009!!! The house still stands but has been heavily damaged by fire!!!! What an incredible experience having your mom live next door to you through all these years!!!!! From this point forward live history happened right outside your front porch!!!!!!!! Thanks Mom!
