In the town of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, there are three gun stores. The first store opened in 1911 and the second store opened in 1912. In 1914, a new gun store was built and it was called the Firearms Annex. It was located on North Fourth Street. The third store is currently closed but it has been kept in storage for many years. The first Store owner was Mr. Emmitt Holmes and he operated it until 1915 when he sold it to Mr. John Kapp who operated it until 1928 when he sold it to Mr. Harry Henson who operated it until 1945 when it reopened as the Second Gun Store which is still open today. Mrs. Mildred Kapp ran the Second Gun Store from 1945 until her death in 1976 which left the business to her son, Barry Kapp Jr., who operates it today as the Third Gun Store which is also still open today! The history of gun security in this small town can be traced back to 1911 when two different businesses decided to start selling guns! One store bought a machinegun from George Ahern and installed them at their location on North Fourth Street while the other store bought an automatic pistol from Samuel Colt! These pistols were used by law enforcement officers and military members throughout America during World War I because they were reliable and1950s-1990s handguns generally relied upon manual safeties (locks) rather than electronic locks like current firearms do! In 1928, Harry Henson purchased Mr. John Kapp’s remaining interest in The Second Gun Store so that all three stores could operate under one roof! This gave local residents easy access to quality firearms at any time without having to go out into society where prices would be too high or unsafe!! From 1945 until his death in 1976, Harry Henson always tried to keep things affordable for everyone by stocking only rifles, shotguns, ammunition and tools instead of large caliber handguns!!! Barry Kapp Jr., his father’s successor continues this tradition today by stocking just rifles, shotguns & ammo!!! Today, with over sixty years of experience under one roof making sure customers have easy access to quality firearms at reasonable prices- The Third Gun Shop remains a vital part of Pleasant Prairie’s community spirit!!

The community was founded in 1855, and it has since become one of the most important agricultural centers in Wisconsin. Pleasant Prairie is located about 26 miles west of Madison, and it has a population of about 2,500 people. The town is bordered by Marathon County to the north, Brown County to the west, Dodge County to the south, and Racine County to the east. Pleasant Prairie was founded in 1855 by three men named John Crouse, Charles Weiser, and Amos Houghton. The town was originally called Poyntzville after John Crouse's father. In 1860, Pleasant Prairie became a part of what is now Dodge County. In 1870, Pleasant Prairie became a part of what is now Brown County. In 1875, Pleasant Prairie became a part of what is now Marathon County. In 1911, Pleasant Prairie merged with neighboring village Racine to form one large community known as Racine-Pleasant Prairie Township School District No. 1 (Racine). The first settlers who arrived in Pleasant Prairie were farmers who had moved from eastern Pennsylvania during the early 1800s. These settlers began farming near present day Wauwatosa and built their homes on hilltops overlooking their fields and ponds. By 1855, many other farmers had also moved into this area and started growing crops such as wheat, cornmeal, potatoes, butterbeans/cabbage/onions/gravy mix (a type of vegetable soup), beans/maize/, tomatoes/eggplant (a type of fruit), etc., all while providing services such as livestock herding and tenantry service for others in their communities or villages nearby. Many residents still live within these boundaries today; however some have relocated to other parts of Wisconsin or outside United States entirely because they continue to enjoy good quality local food production here at home!
