Pleasant Prairie is a small town in the town of Appleton, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 522 at the 2010 census. Pleasant Prairie is east of Appleton on County Road M-6, which leads to Wausau. The first Europeans to visit the area were French fur traders in 1673. They named the area "Pleasant Prairie" after an early settler, Capt. John Pleasant, who ran a trading post there from 1702 to 1705. In 1836, when the Territorial Legislature created Appleton Township and incorporated Pleasant Prairie into it, its name was changed to Appleton Village. The village had no resident school until fall of 1902 when Mrs. Dora Sells organized a class for girls in her home using materials she had collected for that purpose from citizens of other villages in and around Appleton. At first instruction was given by Mrs. Sells herself with help from her daughter; but soon many villagers began coming to learn aboutchooling throughMrs. Sells' example and support group membership widened rapidly as more and more people became interested in learning howto improve their lives by getting an education themselves or through others like them who had done so before them. By 1907 appleTON Village had six classes teaching five grades (junior high school), two stores (one operated by Mrs. Sells and one run by the local bank), two churches (Anglican and Lutheran) with services twice per week each, four homes (three large ones occupied seasonally by employees of various businesses), three public works buildings including a garage/workshop/smithy used for manufacturing products such as nails, screws, etc., a park where community dances were held annually during summertime until World War II when they were moved indoors because of air raid alerts; plus seven private residences all rented out during operations which totaled over 1,700 hours expended providing educational opportunities for almost 400 students from twenty-six villages within easy commuting distance! A new high school opened in 1954 called Valley View High School after Valley View Park located adjacent to town center that served as an open space for playing games since earliest times - former tennis courts now serve as soccer fields! In 1957 Parkway Elementary School opened also adding kindergarten through 6th grade along with social studies classrooms which grew into present day English Language Immersion program offered jointly between neighboring schools Falcon Heights Intermediate School & Highland Park Early Childhood Learning Center! After years of growth within our tiny community we celebrated our 10th anniversary celebration on October 30th 2017 with much fanfare including a “10 Year Celebration breakfast” catered by our very own Vermillion Manor Catering Company

Pleasant Prairie is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the Brown County metropolitan area. The population was 9,851 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live on what is now Pleasant Prairie were Native Americans who hunted and gathered wild plants and animals near where the current town stands today. They named their location after a pleasant meadow they found near their village digging for roots beneath a tree trunk. French traders traveling through this area in 1836 discovered furbearing mammals (a type of bear) living here so they named the place "Pleasant Prairie". In 1845, when one of General James Kapp's commands passed through this area on his way to Fort Snelling, he ordered Colonel Augustus De Pere to erect a stockade around what would become Pleasant Prairie due to fears that runaway slaves might be brought into this area by wagon trains passing through from Illinois or Missouri. De Pere did so and named it "Pleasant Prairie" after his old home in Quincy, Massachusetts which he had recently moved away from because of financial problems caused byhis investments there. One important event that took place here during its early years was when John Fetterman came overland from Canada with goods for settlers in 1847 and built a store at what is now known as First Street/Wisconsin Ave., just east of Third Avenue today. This store was later renamed Fetterman's Store before moving to its presentlocation on Main Street within Pleasant Prairie proper in 1951. Another early resident of this community was Captain David Roesch who settled hereabouts along with his family c1850s after arriving from Germany aboard an American ship calledthe Quaker State which sailed downriver from Philadelphia port on July 22, 1848 carrying 140 passengers and crew members including Captains George Steimer and Alexius Voigtlander - all Germans born within six months of each other at Hanover Square (now part ofOld Bridge). After disembarking at Grand Island they set up shop among the nearby hills northwest of town nearpresent day First Avenue/Wisconsin Ave., west side of Lake Michigan about two miles northwestof present day Racine Road/Milwaukee Rd., south sideof present day White Settlement Rd./Lakeview Dr., northeast cornerof present day Park Ave./East High School Plz., southeast cornerof present Day Green Mound Rd./South Shore Drive &Waterford Dr.(today's Menomonee Falls). Captain Roesch became involved with local politics becoming justiceofthe peace for Buena Vista Township (later Addison) then Greendalebefore being elected as Supervisor for Town Of Waukesha (now Waukesha)in1866; he served until his death four years later while still serving as supervisor.. He is buried adjacentto buena Vista Township Hall Cemetery next doorto Captains George Steimer & Alexius Voigtlander pic . Despite being only 26 years old when he died captain David Roesch had already began laying plans for developingthis new community which would later become Pleasant Prairie...He purchased 640 acres east OF Waterford Dr.(northwest corner 3rd Ave.-southwest corner Main St.)for $360(plus 10% interest per year)...This land would eventually becomewhat is now known as Racine Road/Milwaukee Rd.. Captain David Roesch also donated 25 acres easterlyOF Waterford Dr.(northwest corner 3rd Ave.-southwest corner Main St.)to establish South Side Heights where many prominent families resided beginningwith Isaac Aspinwall (& others), Solomon Potter, Ebenezer Morse Sr., Nathaniel Hawthorne,... And Mrs Humphrey Ward played an important rolein organized religion too!
The town of Pleasant Prairie was founded in 1854 by James and Sarah (Foley) McDonald. The town was named for apleasant meadow near the original site of the town. A post office was established in 1865, and the town began to take on more commercial activities. In 1867, the first school opened in the town. In 1902, a railroad station was built in Pleasant Prairie, and it became an important transportation hub for the community. The population of Pleasant Prairie grew rapidly during this time, and new businesses were founded throughout thetown. In 1916, a Junior High School was built in the town, and it remained an important educational institution until 1976. By 1950, there were over 100 businesses operating in Pleasant Prairie. During this time,thetown experienced some key changes which helped to shape its future as a vibrant community: First,in 1965,theTown Board passed an ordinance creating a public works department which would manage various aspects of local infrastructure such as roads and sewers; Second,a parkland development northeast of the original sitewas constructed; Thirdly,. . .
