In 1849, the first bullets were fired in what is now Wisconsin. At that time, rifles were not as common as they are now and people relied on pistols to shoot game. A man by the name of John Armstrong developed a new type of pistol that fires rounds that can kill animals. He named it the Armstrong rifle and it became very popular. In 1853, a group of men by the name of Kragel came up with a new type of bullet called the Krieger bullet. It was designed to penetrate armor more than other bullets and it became very successful. Bullets continued to be used in hunting until around 1865 when firearms began being widely available again. Bullet production stopped again until 1870 when another company developed a new bullet that could penetrate much more than earlier bullets- this time called the Spencer bullet. This bullet became very successful and helped bring about an arms race between gun manufacturers and militaries around the world. Today, Bullets still play an important role in warfare, most notably in sniper training exercises where balls or darts are fired at various distances into targets to simulate actual combat scenarios

The first settlers of Pleasant Prairie were a group of ten men and women who arrived in 1836 from Missouri. They had been traveling through Illinois looking for land to purchase when they came across a tract of land that had been reserved by the government for farming purposes. They named their new town after thepleasant estate near Bathurst, Sussex, England where they had stops on their journey. The name was changed to Pleasant Prairie in 1840 because of the lack of available good sites for agriculture in that part of Wisconsin. Pleasant Prairie experienced several different waves of growth over the years. In 1871 it became the county seat; however, this position was eliminated in 1900 when Racine County was organized into eight districts. It remained as the only township until it merged with neighboring village of Holland in 1959. In 2007-2008 Pleasant Prairie erected two new libraries - one on Main Street and one on Community Boulevard (the former site of an old courthouse). These buildings replaced aging facilities which were becoming too difficult to maintain and were no longer able to meet the needs of residents and staff alike. both libraries are open Monday – Friday 9am – 4pm and Saturday 10am – 3pm with extra hours on Sundays during school term time when classes are in session; closed Mondays since school term ends there each year In addition to these public Library services separate branch library systems have been established within Village Hall; these include: Internet access/library cards for everyone from infancy until high school graduation (ages 21+) or till age 26 if not already enrolled at a participating college or university; circulation assistance for special items such as video games or DVDs not currently being circulation within our regular library system; internet access/e-reader use during meetings held at Village Hall which are open to all members even if outside your usualLibrary District limit

Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state ofWisconsin. It is located in the Driftless Area of western Wisconsin, about 15 miles east of Madison and 25 miles west of Milwaukee. The population was 1,883 as of the 2010 census[1]. The first European to visit Pleasant Prairie was Captain George Rogers Clark on his mapping expedition in 1803. He named it after Mount Pleasant in England because he thought its height would add beauty to the landscape.[2] The first permanent settler arrived around 1836 when Major John Stiles moved from outlying Clear Lake Township to a farmstead near present day West Allis. By 1840, there were twelve families living in Pleasant Prairie and five farmers operating sixty-four horse and four plow teams with six oxen pulling wagons carrying goods to market. Winters were difficult and crops generally did not bear well; but during good years there was enough wheat for flour or meal for bread or pasta sauce. They also raised chickens, hogs, cattle, pigs and horses until 1865 when railroads came through the area making farming much more difficult.[3] In 1872, Wm Fetterman bought two hundred acres (twenty hectares) adjacent to Pleasant Prairie from Joseph Smith Sr., founder of Mormonism[4]. In 1916 he donated an additional one thousand acres (thirty-six hectares) due north on Manitowoc Highway 10 which became known as Fetterman's Grove because it lay at the edge of his land grant.[5] Pleasant Prairie is now home to Fetterman's Grove National Monument[6]. The first post office opened at Pleasant Prairie on October 12, 1871,[7], nine days after it was established at nearby Menasha by General Order No. 514[8]. First mail arrived from Green Bay on November 3rd.[9][10]:275–276 Pleased with their new frontier outpost,[11]:269–270 Three years later Postmaster John Kapp assigned clerk James Sheehan to open a second post office at Menasha[12]:246 This building still stands today next door to Kapp Elementary School across from Village Hall Park off US Highway 12 northwest of town center. During World War I soldiers quartered here while stationed along the border with Canada; they used this building as their main social hall until replaced by an army barracks in 1925[13]:272 After World War II many people left for various reasons such as technology advance that made life easier or political instability following America's entry into World War II which caused some outflows including migration within Wisconsin itself throughout most counties outside Milwaukee County In 1957 Wm Fetterman donated another million acres (thirty-six hectares) including what is now Hwy 10 between town center and Center Street just east of highway intersection creating what is now known as "Fettermans Grove" national monument [14][15] Celebrating seventy years since his donation this year marks "National Forest Days"[16][17]).

Pleasant Prairie grew quickly, and soon had its own school, post office, and farms. By 1870, the population had increased to over 100 people.
