Pleasant Prairie is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census and 2,041 at the 2015 estimate. Pleasant Prairie is located in Racine County on the eastern border of Milwaukee County. In 1847, John Hargrave settled land in what is now Pleasant Prairie on behalf of his brother-in-law Amos Kendall. A gristmill built by Hargrave and others near present day Superior Avenue was first used to grind corn for export to Great Lakes ports in 1853. The town's first post office was established on May 10, 1858, with Gertrude Snively as its first postmaster. The first school opened in 1860 and it became a public school system that served all of Racine County until 1971 when it merged into the Milwaukee District School Board. Pleasant Prairie's name comes from "olden time" or "historic times." pleasant means “pleasant” or “peaceful” while prairie signifies “landscaped countryside” which likely led to its agricultural nature given that much of the original farmsteads still stand today (although many have been replaced by suburban homes). It wasn't until after World War II when agriculture began to decline and more people moved into town; during this time period citizenry started using less formal terms such as "town," "city," or "village." In 1951, thanks to Federal Highway Administration funding for new expressways within Racine County, Pleasant Prairie saw an influx of developers who began building single family homes as well as businesses adjacent to their homes/ subdivisions (which often remain today). This development has caused changes both inside and outside of Pleasant Prairie due to increased traffic congestion and recent highway construction projects which can only be seen from a distance looking down onto busy streets full of cars driving fast past properties they just bought minutes ago!

Pleasant Prairie is a town in the town of Spooner, Wisconsin, in the United States. The population was 2,502 at the 2010 census. It was established in 1854 as a result of the organization of the County of Dodge. Pleasant Prairie is located about 20 miles east-southeast of Milwaukee and 30 miles west-northwest of Green Bay. Pleasant Prairie was first settled by German immigrants in 1834. The first Post Office was opened in 1836. In 1851, Pleasant Prairie incorporated as a village. In 1865, Pleasant Prairie became a town when it added to its name threesquare mile (10 km²) section extending from its eastern border to become part of Spooner Township. In 1880, Pleasant Prairie passed an ordinance which banned gambling within its borders due to concerns that this activity would spread across state lines and impact neighboring townships with similar densities of gambling businesses. The prohibition has been enforced ever since through ordinances and by collaboration between local law enforcement and gaming inspectors who are stationed at various locations throughout the community during gaming seasons to monitor casino operations
Pleasant Prairie is a town in the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,584 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white people to live in Pleasant Prairie were John and Catharine Shepherd who founded the town in 1847 on a piece of land they had acquired from the federal government for $10 per acre. The Shephers donated about half of what is now Pleasant Prairie to the town for development as a township. The other half was given to Racine as part of a land swap that led to Racine becoming a city. In 1872, Pleasant Prairie got its own post office and began receiving mail from all over Wisconsin. By 1911, it had built a school and blacksmith shop which remain today as part of the town hall complex. In 1945, after World War II ended, Pleasant Prairie became home to more than 5,000 soldiers who had been stationed at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis during the war years. Many residents left their homes and businesses behind when Fort Snelling closed down in 1946 because it became ineligible for military use following demobilization
