Pleasant Prairie is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 9,816 at the 2010 census, making it the most populous town in Milwaukee County. Pleasant Prairie is located in the southern portion of Milwaukee County and is bordered by Waukesha to the north, Ozaukee to the east, and Racine to the south. The Town of Pleasant Prairie was organized on February 14, 1836, from parts of townships of Winnebago and Emden. The first settler in what is now Pleasant Prairie was James Averill who arrived there in 1824. He named his land "Pleasant Prairie." In 1836, a group of men led by John Haines organized a township for themselves called "Pleasant Prairie." On February 14th, 1836, they voted to form a new town from part of their old township - thisTown would be called Pleasant Prairie after James Averill's original land grant which he received in 1824 as part of his deal with European settlers arriving in what is now Milwaukee County. The first post office was established at Pleasant Prairie on October 17th, 1840; it was renamed West Allis on November 3rd, 1850 after Postmaster General George Washington Carleton's victory over British forces near West Allis (now Waukesha) during the War Of 1812. The first store opened at Pleasant Prairie on October 17th 1840 by Isadore Myers who also operated a sawmill there until 1861 when that mill burned down along with other mills around that time because too much water leaked out from under its foundations into nearby ditches creating an environmental disaster known as "the pleasant prairies".

Pleasant Prairie is a town in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,569 as of the 2010 census. It is the most populous town in Racine County and one of the largest towns in Wisconsin. Pleasant Prairie is located on the eastern border of Racine County and is bordered by Green Bay to the east, Ashwaubenon to the north, Sheboygan to the northwest, and Waukesha to the south. Pleasant Prairie was platted in 1872 by Captain John Fitch and his brother-in-law John McKenzie. The first settlers were white men from New York City who had come downriver from Milwaukee. They built a log cabin onpresentday Pleasant Prairie Road. In 1873, Captain Fitch's oldest son Julius built a new cabin near what is now Market Square for his family. The town grew rapidly after its incorporation as a village in 1878. By 1900, there were over 100 people living in Pleasant Prairie Village alone. In 1916, when World War I began, many people left Pleasant Prairie for military service; however, few returned home until after World War II when more people moved into the area during peacetime times because of opportunities for work at Foxconn Technology Group Inc.'s manufacturing plants outside of Milwaukee. Many residents also got involved with American Legion posts throughout their townsplatting days – something that still occurs today among some residents who served during wars or US conflicts overseas (such as Iraq and Afghanistan). In 1928–29 Pleasant Prairie organized itself into two wards; one ward contained all of present-day Pleasant Prairie Village while another ward included all but part of Present-Day Racine before it became incorporated into present day Racine County in 1941 There have been several revisions/amendments to city boundaries since then: In 1994 it lost its western boundary along Center Street to Herndon Heights which annexed much of what used to be called “Pleasant Prairie”; After years OFW protesting this change court rule finally allowed annexation without going through an election due to lack ofvillage support; In 2000 annexations took place along Deerfield Drive between Deerfield Road/Milwaukee Street and Western Avenue making it possible for adjacent areas including North Randall Park (now within Arlington Heights)to join forces with Pavilion Township
Pleasant Prairie was a small town in the town of Green Bay, Wisconsin from 1853 to 1903. The name came from what is now Pleasant Valley.
