Platteville, Wisconsin is a small town in the county of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,595 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis Combined Statistical Area. The downtown area has been around since 1852 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Platteville is home to two high schools; Platteville High School and West Allis Senior High School. The first settler in what became Platteville was Abram Stout who arrived in 1853. In 1860, he married Anna Faust from Racine, Wisconsin. They had six children: Abram (1860-1930), Elizabeth (1862-1945), John Parnell (1865-1944), Mildred Ethel (1868-1966), Walter J.(1870-) and Alice Bellefontaine(born 1870). Anna died in 1875 when their son John was four years old. Abram moved his family to a farm on the north side of town in 1879 and started an agricultural business with his brother Walter which continued until his death in 1930. That year also saw the birth of Lena Best who would become one of Wisconsin's most famous women as she played an important role in developing many early industries such as cheese making and lumbering around town during this time period In 1886, Hermann Kapp purchased land east of town from Abram Stout for $10 per acre which would eventually become Waukesha County . Kapp donated it to the Townspeople Association for use as a public park that still resides today . On July 15th 1888 by ordinance platting out lots within present day platteville there were eight families living therein including three named Hochstetter brothers/Hermann & Auguste Kapp/Lena Best... By 1890 there were twenty five families living within present day platteville with an additional two or three families coming over each year .. settlement soon progressed more towards industry than agriculture.. This growth can be seen throughout all levels of society with "houses" becoming available for purchase at various points along Main Street .. There are several churches now located within present day platteville dating back to before 1880 including St George's Episcopal Church built about 1865 by Luther Nordhoff/Fritz Lohmann.. In 1893 Lutheran pastor Reuben Sauerstedt established a Sunday school here.. A post office operated here from 1889 until 1907 under name "Milwaukee". A fire destroyed almost all the buildings on Main Street between Sherman Avenue and Third Street on November 1st 1897 On October 3rd 1902 news reached Platteville that America's first airmail service had been established between Chicago Illinois and Milwaukee Wisconsin using dirigible called SS America which flew over our community twice daily providing valuable transportation information As World War I approached both sides looked for ways to increase trade so they could win WWI .......... Businesses increased rapidly due to increased demand for goods being shipped into Europe ...... However after hostilities ended prices dropped significantly .............. For those who lost everything during war see below In 1924 Gertrude Hochstadter came across some property northeast of town off State Highway 26 looking for a place to build her new home ..... After driving dozens upon dozens of miles she found finally what she was looking for ....... She founded Hochstadter Homes Incorporated serving residential real estate throughout Northwestern WI through 2007 ................. Today Hochstadter Homes Incorporates continues offering quality Real Estate services....... The company has several properties located within modern day PlatteVILLE including: 2 large homes situated just eastsideofthe intersectionof corner streets NW & SE known as Esther Wellesley House & Harry Emerson Wellesley House ......... Gun grip history is a long and complex topic. There are many different types of grips, both simple and complex. The earliest firearms were designed with a variety of grip designs in mind. Some early firearms had no grips at all, relying instead on the user's hand to hold the firearm in place. over time, however, Grip design evolved into something more traditional. A modern grip is made up of two parts: the gripping surface and the support surface. The gripping surface is made from some type of material that will create a strong grasp on the gun while held in your hand. The support surface can bemade from metal or plastic, but it typically has two posts that hold it in place on either side of your hand when you're holding the firearm like this: The post on one side should be facing towards your shoulder while the post on the other side should be facing away from you (Figure 1). This creates an "overhand" grip which allows you to shoot accurately without having to worry about getting your fingers dirty or lost inside the gun barrel (Figure 2). It also allows for more control when firing as you can use more force against each shot than if you had a conventional grip without these posts (Figure 3).

The town of Platteville, Wisconsin was founded by a group of pioneers in 1836. The community was named for General James K. Polk, who served as the 33rd President of the United States. The town became a thriving farming community and had a population of around 100 people when it first started to be surveyed in 1838. By 1860, the population had increased to over 600 people and by 1870, it had reached 1,000 people. The town experienced some growth during the early years of World War I, with many residents moving to join the military. However, after the war ended, there were few changes to the community until the late 1800s when new residents began to arrive and start businesses in Platteville. In 1902, Platteville voted to become an independent city and has since grown into one of Wisconsin’s most populous cities. Today, Platteville is home to over 20 thousand residents and is known for its rich history and cultural experiences
The first house on the plat was built in 1836 by John and Sarah Brown. The browns were a family of nine who came to Platteville from Ohio. They started a bakery, which continued until 1861. In 1868, they married Anna Ladd and moved to their present home on the plattage. The couple had two children, Margaret and Johnathon. They raised their children here until Anna died in 1902, at the age of 82 years old. In 1903, Margaret married George Wirtz and they lived in the house for 54 years. They sold it to Neil Hoyer in 1984.
